installing suspension, encountered problem.
So today i set out to install the konis and stranos i've had sitting around. Rear shocks + springs went fine, front ones were going fine until i took the shock out and realized that the nut on the top of the rubber isolator or w/e the thing on the top of the strut is, is completely rusted and rounded off. Any ideas as to how i can proceed? I might try having my friend cut the nut off with the stud and all.

It's always something@!!!!
Right when you least expect it and also right when everything is going smooth!
I've started to become weary anytime I'm working on the car and things are moving smoothly, it's like a sign somethings bout to give!!!
LOL, I feel your pain. A simple project suddenly becomes a BS project.
Good luck and dont forget to make sure the adjustment holes are facing out where you can reach it.

I had the same issue. I soaked it with PB blaster, than used an Impact on it. (Make sure the spring is held together with spring compressors) I managed to get the nut on the top to loosen some, before it kept spinning. Than I just cut the shock from top part of the spring, right under the rubber isolator. Hope that makes sense?

2000z28m6 what do you have removed from your car to get it down to that weight? And did you notice a difference with your ftra? I'm thinking about getting one

thanks for the help, ended up cutting off the bolts cause the shaft broke on one anyway. next problem i currently have is that when im reassembling everything, when you try to thread the bolt on to the shaft that the spindle goes on (where the cotter pin is) the shaft spins, i don't see anywhere i can hold it so it doesn't spin. any help with that?

After you get the shaft of the upper ball joint through spindle, jack the lower control arm up until just about the point where the suspension is lifting the car off the jack stand on that side.
The shaft should stop spinning and you can torque the castle nut down, and put the cotter pin through and bend it.

i had the same problem, for the drivers side i had to chisel the nut off because bolt-outs wouldnt work
on the passenger side i had to cut the shock in half because the mount was fused with the shock
