Moog Lower Ball Joints...
Took my car to get the ball joints replaced. I bought some Moog ball joints and told the guy I wanted them installed. He said they didn't look like they would hold grease and wanted to install the GM factory replacement. I told him to stick with the Moogs... I had seen people recommend them on hear and the guy at Advanced recommended them (He was one of the guys that work there that wasn't retarded.)
So my question is: any reality to his concern?
It's a small town mechanic who, I'm sure, doesn't work on these cars very often if ever. I've been leery of anyone in small towns ever since O'Rielly's back home tried to give me a flexplate for a Chevy pickup after I cracked mine in 3 places on my old Camaro SS.

The only thing we noticed with the Moog's is there boots are terrible, they are hard to get back on and don't seal real well... is this is the reason? I don't know... that is the only thing I can think of. Other than that they have grease fittings like any normal ball joint

I just put all new Moog balljoints and bushings in my front end about a month ago. Mine balljoints HAVE zerks to grease them, but I did change the boots to the Energy's cause I didnt like how Moogs wouldnt stay seated.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but would anyone know which E/S poly grease boot would work best for the Moog Lower balljoint? I see they have a large selection of universal lower balljoint grease boots. I'm re-mounting my control arms this weekend. Part #?
leadfoot4 you still out there??
Thanks!!

No, I think what he's saying is that he's using ES poly boots on the upper and lower ball joints, as well as the tie rod boots also. You know, "internet shorthand".....
I threw out the comment about using the poly boots on the B/Js, however ES doesn't list a "direct fit" part number for the 4th gen Camaro/Firebirds. However, they do have a "size chart" that you could use to find what you need.
I had my car apart for some work over the winter, and in the process I found the upper B/J boots were trashed. I used the ES chart to find some that were close enough in size.

I'm having the same problem with mu Moog ball joint covers. It seems like switching to ES is the way to go - can anyone help us with a part#? I'm sure many people will need it like us down the road.

I'm about to do all Moog UPPER and LOWER control arm bushings..........that ES poly boots part # would be cool if anyone has it...for the Moog UPPER and LOWER ball joints.
So these ES poly boots just fit together with the Moog ball joints?
How about the control arm bushings by Moog....do they need anything special so they seal and fit properly?
