Default rear end squeaking??

Hello all,

Recently when the weather dropped a bit in Houston, the WS6 rear end started squeaking whenever I go over speed bumps or any bump for that matter. With the car sitting still, I can go and push on the rear deck and it squeaks like crazy. I only have about 23K miles on it. Any ideas what this might be?

Thanks,

Russ

I'm willing to bet it's the LCA's or the sway bar. But to make sure, just get under the car and have someone push down on the car while you find the squeking. You can then grease the bushings up, or there is some kind of tape you can get. I'm getting BMR LCA's and since they have grease fittings hopefully I will be able to keep the squeaking down.

LCA's or swaybar huh?

I'll take a close look at those. Maybe I can get GM to give me a credit for the stock ones and install LG instead

thanks,

Russ

Usually the PHR doesn't squeak as often, but it's still an possibility. Check all three. Pretty much any LCA you get will squeak, sometimes more than stock. Hopefully the grease fittings on the BMR's will stop this. Or get a cutout and cover up all of the noises, which is actually a reason I ordered one

I actually do have a cutout and I can still hear it lol!

That's pretty crappy. I've never had a car that squeaked like this before. Or perhaps it's just that all my other cars actually had some acoustic damping material in them

In the meantime I'll go ahead and crank the stereo and drop the lead foot

Thanks all,
Russ

Just how much grease are we suposed to put in these grease fittings? I'm getting a metal/metal squeaking from the lca/chassis connection. Absolutely horrible squeak when riding at slow speeds. Spohn adjustable 1rod end. No noise from the rod end.

The nozzle, whatever you call it. I have them on my poly ends on the lca's.

I had the exact same problem you were describing... it turned out to be the rear sway bar endlinks. Tighten the nut on them and see if that works to make the sound go away, if not try greasing them.

I replaced mine with Prothane poly endlinks and the sound went away...

damn u have fittings on your end links? where did you get them from? yeah make sure everything is tight. sometimes a little wd40 will help. just grease it until the fittings start to swell, havent seen greasable end links so i dont know exactly how it is

This is what I have, and what I'm talking about. The squeaking is coming from the metal/metal rub from the poly end.

ooooooo ok i thought we were talkin about sway bar end links, yeah just grease that until u see the poly start to bulge out and u will be strait. did u use the silicon grease that came with it? that is there to help cut back on it too

Yeah, used those tiny little prothane tubes completely. My swaybars don't squeak at all, nor does the panhard bar, and they're all poly.

Well they're less than 2 weeks old, but anyway.

I went out and put the rear on jack stands, jacked up the rear end. Loosened the bolts all the way and pumped grease into it till it started coming out the sides. Torqued them back down, and no more squeaking!
