Default Need pads, heard bad things about hawk hps

I need some good new pads. A few friends have the hawk hps pads and they complain that they squeak bad and dust a lot as well. I see they advertise that they are quiet and they don't dust. My friends say the company flat out lies. Can you guys give me some input and/or other suggestions?

My HPS pads squeal but don't dust very much.

The HP+ pads I was running squealed and dusted a lot.

The least dusty and squealy pads I ever had were Porterfields.

Getting ready to put a set of HPS's on front and rear. I'm doing the C5 conversion, I've heard good things about the HPS pads, and it seems that a lot of people have them, so that's what I got. I can hopefully tell you more about them in a week or so when they're installed.

I've had no squeaking out of my HPS's, and only moderate dust. I'll most likely use them again when that time comes.

How do you know they are HPS's on the car? I also use them on my cars more than anything. Are they spotless? They are not. But I can tell you that I find folks find confuse the Hawk compounds--- a LOT. I get folks that call them HPS Pluses. (no such thing). There are those that just want Hawk HP pads (also do not exist).

And as was mentioned, any brake could make squealing noise with bad installation (or with race pads).

because getting the information first hand, actually riding in the car with the product isnt as good of a source as joe blow on the internet.

Im the one he got the info from. I'm not going to contest anyone thats had a good experience. I have not. Perhaps they are more of a performance application than i had bargained for. I was told hawk pads do not dust much and of the 3 sets of pads ive had (delco, raybestos and hawk HPS) the hawk HPS dust the worst. I engine brake as much as possible so i dont have to clean my wheels so often.

If it was just dust that was the problem, i could deal - but the horrible squeal ive had from the start is unacceptable. We have another buddy with a C5 and he has the exact same brake dust issue and even the exact same brake squeal. It happens under the same braking conditions.

here's a video of my car taken during a track day, watch as i come out of hte burnout box. Granted, any brakes will dust at the track but i keep my car clean. This was not just built up over several hundred miles. Ive left my daily driver unwashed for 3 months and it still wasnt this bad.

my hawk HPS pads were installed properly with brand new raybestos rotors at the same time. Theyre not warped, ive got about 3000 miles on them now.

I used to run HP plus on a couple cars a few years ago. They stopped fine, but I found the dust to be a bit corrosive. I have since swapped to Carbotech pads on ALL my cars. No noise, very little dust, and a lot more initial bite than the Hawks I had.

Hawk also offers a ceramic compound that dusts a lot less. They stop fine, but are not as consistent when pushed to the limit (they will fade before the standard HPS pads)

I offer all the Hawk compounds as well as other Metal Matrix pads such as Stillen pads, which are a proprietary compound to Stillen, that performs similarly to the HPS compound. I have been running the Stillen pads for around 1000 miles now and have been happy with them. They stop well, are quite consistent and are quiet and don't excessively dust.

If you are interested, you can PM me, email me or call me and I will be more than happy to answer any of your questions.

Porterfield Racing makes a good HP street pad. I've been using them for several years.

DUST??? My wife has two Jags, an XJ8 and an XF. Wash either car, drive it around the block, and the wheels are FULL of dust.....
