Default ??? Failed Polyurethane Torque Arm Mount ?????

Recently had my polyurethane torque arm mount fail. The torque arm cut right through it and was rubbing on the torque arm mount.

I have never heard of this happening and was wondering if anybody else has had this happen?

Odd, I wouldn't think the wavy W shape of the arm would allow for it to do that.

might have had too much or too little pinion angle if that happened...

Hey:

As said before, I think something is out of alignment, check pinion angle, LCA bushings, and bump stops on the car, especially if it has lots of miles.

Hello
A poly torque arm mount is like a LCA poly bushing. The life expectancy depends on how the vehicle is driven. This situation is normal they will wear down and once you start putting a lot of power to a stock torque arm and a poly bushing it will do damage. We do offer replacement bushings for $14.99 + S/H. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Thanks
Brad

I was using a UMI torque arm with a UMI torque arm relocation set. The nice folks at UMI showed excellent customer service and sent me a replacement free of charge and for that I am very grateful.

The pinion angle is good and the lca bushings are fine. I know now that the replacement bushing is installed that my geometry was off with the failed part. I can tell by the improvement in shifting. I am now thinking that this didn't happen over night like I initially thought, but may have been more gradual.

Anyways, the new part is in and I couldn't be happier with the performance of my suspension.

I was only wondering if anybody had seen this happen before.

That was a UMI part? I thought UMI torque arms were tubular. So what was out of alignment?

I think that I have one of the last of the stock style UMI perfomance, torque arms lol, the new ones are tubular and look like they are sturdier. Besides the ripped bushing (which is Energy Suspension) the UMI parts on my car have been flawless.

I see. I didn't know UMI made a stock style torque arm previously. That's what confused me.

I've got an Energy suspension poly bushing on order for my car, the stock rubber one is pretty ratty after 151k.

DAMN it ****!!!

Put on the replacement Bushing and went to St Thomas Dragway today and guess what. The damn replacement failed. I am really just flabbergasted and don't know what to do. Should I just put the stock one back on? Nobody has heard of this happening but now 2x to me. ****, its only a 15 dollar part and it makes me glad I have the relocation bracket and I am not breaking any tranny parts -- but damn this is getting frustrating. I missed my 12 second goal by 5 hundreths. Any help would be appreciated.

On and by the way -- I already know UMI offers them for 14.99

Earlier today I removed the UMI torque arm and put the stock one back in as well I put in another ES poly mount. Just a little frustrated at the moment. Not sure what my next move will be.

Her is a pic taken in pitch black on my back in the rain after getting home that night. Flash on the camera showed me what happened to Bushing #2 after less than a week.

If you swapped out the umi tq arm and the stocker and they both broke bushing i'am gonna say that after market cross member is no good or its not set up right.

Sorry, both times the bushing failed was with the UMI arm. Just put the stocker in last night with a new bushing. Got my fingers crossed.
