I went from an un-knowing idiot to a pompous blowhard in record time.

A few SAE Baja friends and I were discussing this a few weeks ago. We divided that once classes start back up, we are going to load up my TA with strain gauges on various parts (and other instrumentation) and go to town. I am really looking forward to this and maybe it will give us some concrete numbers to back up some claims. Maybe it will be it a part of my masters' thesis or an article for SAE.

I'd probably have done the same back in school when I was on the formula SAE team - I remember instrumenting the previous year's car with strain gauges and flogging the **** out of it. I just don't have access to anything like that anymore now that I'm out of that environment

So get on it

If you really want to make it a complete test, instrument the car the exact same way with a STB installed, and see what the results are. Then, have a third-party driver run a couple laps in the car without the STB, and then a couple laps with the STB in.

If you really want to get fun with it, do the exact same four tests - but with stock shocks, then good aftermarket shocks, and then with good shocks/bad tires, good shocks/good tires, bad shocks/bad tires, and bad shocks/good tires. And to make it even more interesting, you could throw SFCs into the mix.

I've said this before, But I added a STB as my first suspension mod on my car. It did nothing, not even for the 6500rpm u-turns I make daily.

The windshield cowl counts as a structural member now?

I think someone should make a 4-point that bolts the the front bumper, too.

After I installed my 4 point, the car was more planted, turned flatter, cowl shake was eliminated and I could leap over a tall building in a single bound.

Also, after adding the 4 point, the car began talking to me and introduced itself as Larry. Chicks dig talking cars.

Ask that guy you saw at that car show if his window cracks. That's all the proof you needed before, right?

I know the window is going to crack from my 3 point brace because I can feel a difference. I can feel that the window is going to crack
