BMR trak pak or Jegster torque arm for third gen
Im having a hard time deciding on which torque arm to go with, im going to be swaping my t56 soon for a 4l80e and theres no other option that im aware of besides these two as nobody makes a relocation crossmember for this trans, just a standard crossmember. I like the jegster arm since the mounting of it is up and out of the way of everything but I dont feel that the sheetmetal tunnel is meant to handle the torque and i've heard of people elongating the mounting holes in higher hp levels. I've even seen pics where people have been bending the actual arm itself from hard launches. Im also not too excited to put holes in the tunnel. My only drawback to the bmr peice is that im afraid that the crossmember is going to hinder my exhaust install/removal.This is not a dedicated track car and its not a daily driver, just a weekend cruiser with occasional track usage. Anybody have any input

The crossmember definitely does create some exhaust issues when it comes time to remove or install the exhaust. What a lot of our customers have been doing on 3rd and 4th gen cars is putting a V-band clamp in the exhaust just ahead of the crossmember. This is a quality, long lasting solution and makes removing the exhaust a breeze.

I'm not going to lie and say none as it does introduce more noise into the cabin but it is very minimal. From the factory the torque arm is isolated from the chassis by the large torque arm bushing as well as the transmission mounting bushing. Anytime you remove the torque arm from that mounting point and tie it to a rigid part of the frame, some road noise will transfer.
We use a double poly bushing on the hinge plates at the front of the torque arm so you do get the isolation of two bushings. In other words, it;s not a solid mount.
I can say with complete confidence that the Trak Pak is waaaaayyyyy more quiet than the Jegs arm, those things are really noisey. The floor creaks a lot because it was never intended to support the load of a suspension load point. Plus they use a telescoping front slider that is not meant for constant street duty. The tolerance becomes excessive in a short time and will begin to clunk on accel/decel transitions. I don't mean to sound like I am bashing the Jegs arm because they do function fairly well, it's just meant more as an economical track-only replacement.

Well I was lokinf at the Trac Pack as well. My build will yield some good power and around 10's in the 1/4. Like above i'm gonna be swapping a 4l80e so a crossmember will be a problem

I wouldn't choose the Jegster torque arm as it requires you to drill into your floorboard and then bolt their mount into the sheetmetal of the floorboard. Doesn't seem as strong as other setups available.

the only thing you can do for a trans crossmember is to custom make one....there is a 4 inch difference in the length of a 400 and 4l80...so the t56 crossmember would have to be modified.

Im planing to make a torque arm mount for my bmr 4l80e cross member and probably going with a spohn custom length arm. I will also be using an attatchment point farther back on the frame than the factory mounts to help reinforce the torque arm.

I have the jegster on my 3rd Gen and I like it. The car cut consistent low 1.3 60s with my old combo. It is noisy & I wouldn't recommend it for a street car but for a race car its great.

4SFEDSS- Keep us posted on your torque arm combo for sure... Now the Extreme torque arm is it really necessary for a car running low to mid tens? Trac Pack suffice. Don't mean to steal the thread I'm just in the same boat.

The BMR trak pak would more than suffice for a 10 second car, we have actually had someone go low 8's on it but I wouldnn't recommend it. Go with the trak pak and you will definitely be set.

I ran the Jegs arm in my 91 z28. I was pulling 1.41 60ft times with a 406 and a f-1r procharger, runinng 10.50's at 135mph, on 26x10.5 ET Streets. But it made alot of noise on the street. I just bought a BMR for my 98, and it works greatt and is alot quieter than the Jegs. The nice thing about the Jegs is that it is so short and back out of the way. Just my .02
