No ****. Ths thread has NOTHING to do with the crap he's complaining about. It's to thank people who have risked their lives in the line of duty.

Thanks too all vets once again. No one's got the ***** that you all have to do your jobs.

I'll sit here all day and watch the crap these fools type. I served our United States because I believe in such freedoms. HOWEVER as a Marine I do believe RESPECT, TACT and COURTESY should be exercised before one runs his mouth. Because THAT is the way of MEN. Running your mouth and voicing your opinion helper skelter is the way of fool and the weak. Oohrah?

libertyforall1776,

You've got a lot of good info but, this really isn't the place for it!
This thread is about showing appreciation for those who have/had or are willing to give their life to protect the freedom we all enjoy!

Please show some respect!

Thank you!

No liberty doesn't have any good information about that particular situation. We defend More than democracy. There are others in this world who need help and called us. Remember Bosnia and Kosovo? If It wasn't for us sticking our noses in it. The genocide that took place would have been worse. A soldier follows orders cause his country asked him to. Its a full volunteer force. Its the military. Your job is war to bring peace. Stop crying about it.

Default Veterans thank you

Dear sam,
thank you so very much for your support and concern. More often than not we become complaisant because of our myoptic views of what this country was founded upon. Freedom often comes with a great price. My prayers are that we never forget those men and women who gave it all. They served for you and me to preserve what we take for granted. God bless america and may god bless you and your family.

Proud veteran 1964-1968...................

I would much rather "Locate, close with, and destroy the enemy..." preemptively, and in their own back yard, than on American soil any day of the week.

Get off your *** and go do something, anything, to make this country a better place.

Semper,

Hey Sam,
Thanks a bunch for the kind words man. I have no problem with libertyforall or whatever his sn is bringing up his political issues and yadda yadda, he just needs to learn some tact. Time and place, and this is not the time nor the place to be bringing up the issues you take with the US government. You could always go somewhere else buddy. I've been to some really ******* nice shitholes on this planet.
Good times boys, I'll deploy for this country again any day of the week.

A HUGH THANK YOU to all past, present and future servicemen and women.

All you had to do liberty is say thank you and be on your way...but no. You had to **** up this thread with your bullshit. If you don't like it here in America you can always leave...*******.

I have been serving for over 7 years, and it kills me when people use their "freedom of speech" to put down others. (By others I mean people who have sacrificed).
If you are going to just ramble on then you need to post somewhere else.

Thanks to Sam for his regards.

Lightbulb

You know, the united States is not now and never has been at the time of the Constitution's creation, a democracy -- it is a constitutional republic; we do democratically elect our public officials, however.

War is the health of the state, true peace is illusory, I believe, because there is too much money to be made from war, so you are often just making the big bankers wealthy.

A soldier and officer follows the Constitution, if they are a patriotic American, because THAT is the oath a soldier takes. If soldiers and officers took their oaths more seriously, we would not be in so many of the undeclared, unconstitutional wars we have been in. In the example I previously posted, Soldier Michael New <http://mikenew.com> clearly understood his duty to the Constitution, but how many others do?

Again, notice the order of importance in the oath which is taken:

"I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

So we are supposed to thank all the veterans who have not acted positively upon the oath to the Constitution they have taken? If the oath is not taken seriously, then why have it? Or more importantly, why take the oath and serve if it is not taken seriously? There are plenty of other socialist and communist nations who have nothing like our Constitution or oath that you could serve under...

Preemption surely is not defense as it foretell implying predicting the future -- defense is the action of defending from or resisting attack. Preemption and offense are not in the Constitution, but defense is. Preemption and offense do not require the prerequisite of an attack, and are therefore inconsistent with the original intent of the Constitution.

These posts are not meant to put down others at all, it is meant to get people (enlisted especially) thinking about the oath they took, and if they really understand what it is about.

The founders warned against entangling alliances, so NO, we do NOT want to go stick our noses around the world!:
  • "peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations -- entangling alliances with none." Thomas Jefferson, 1801
  • "Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world." George Washington, 1776

The job is defense of our liberty and defending the Constitution, not "war to bring peace". The former is the only reason I can justify sacrificing to serve.

You want to know what government officials think of enlisted folk -- just read former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's quote in the book: "Kiss the Boys Goodbye: How the United States Betrayed Its Own POW's in Vietnam" -- you won't like it at all.
