Default Keep front abs with 9in rear?

Is there anyway to keep the front ABS working if you switch to a 9" or 12 bolt or any other non factory rear? I'm talking about 3 channel. I searched, and couldn't find if this has been discussed before.

im pretty sure if you get a 3 channel rear, and some kind of a non spool differential you will be able to keep your abs

I'm aware that Moser offers a 3 channel carrier, and Midwest does too, I just think it might take me a good while to get something like that. I was looking at the QP housing, and maybe getting a junkyard center until I can afford another grand on a center section.

With front only ABS, your car is going to be seriously unstable under hard braking...your rears will lock and then you will find the car wanting to swap ends in a hurry.

Much better to go all or nothing then, huh?

If you are looking at doing a housing and torque arm package a build like that from us does not take long at all. Like someone mentioned though you would want to have front and rear or nothing at all.

Thanks Midwest (Eric?). I would love to have one of your fab9's. When I said it would take a while, I meant for me to save the cash, I wouldn't be to worried about it taking forever for delivery. I'm a currently unemployed machinist, you don't need any help making those nice housings do ya? I've got another thread going about my 10 bolt right now. Such a mess. My new one turned out having a bent axle tube, this week hopefully I'll have a chance to TRY to straighten it out. Nowhere around here does anything like that. The one I pulled out was an open 3.08 gear. I'm hoping I don't have to swap everything over to the old case. Luckily (I guess) it only stripped 3 of the spider gears in it, but it might not even be a good shell. It's a mess. F'n 10 bolts.

in order for your abs system to work at all, all of the factory installed sensors have to work correctly. if even one of them is missing or reading incorrect it will shut down the entire system. we can do the 3ch abs system install on our housing, and then you can have us do a center section later, but you can't use any other manufacturers setup due to different ways of sensor mountings and reluctor wheel installs. I could possibly install a 3ch system on another manufacturers housing, but I would have to have the housing and center section complete and shipping costs of all that will more than likely make it not worthy of doing so. a spool and 3ch is possible... been there done that

We can do 3ch using a Truetrac, Detroit Locker, Wavetrac and possibly our billet clutch posi here soon. We can also do 3ch with an aluminum case.

How much more would the aluminum case version weigh over the stock 10 bolt?

Depending on what differential unit you choose an aluminum case will get you back down to stock 10-bolt weight. Now that is using our fabricated nine inch housing, other manufactures housings are not as light as ours.

Understandably so. Thanks for the info.
Maybe I can get this newer 10 bolt to hold out just long enough...

Hold on "MidwestChassis" ... you can do 3-channel ABS with a spool??? Is that available on the Moser 9", Strange 60 or Fab 9" or ALL of them? I understood that this was not a viable option with a spool.

96lt4c4, interesting. Was the stock exciter ring a 93 tooth, and you reduced the diameter to a third, and made it a 31 tooth ring mounted to the yoke? I'm not familiar with the 3ch in the LT1 or LS1 cars.

I counted 106 teeth on the ring pressed onto the carrier. My gear ratio is 3.70.

106 / 3.70 = 28.6

The sprocket that is on my yoke is 28 tooth 1/4 pitch. The other is a spare I bought and is 31.
