I honestly wouldn't take a ton of stock it the stories. The way the brakes are designed is that the front left/rear right and front right/rear left are on separate circuits, meaning that if you have a failure on one wheel of your car you lose half of your braking power, not 100%. Also, a failure is a failure, whether you have rubber or stainless lines....it's not like if a rubber line breaks it magically will retain fluid or something.
If you've been hearing other stories I'd be curious to know what you have heard, I'm just going off of things I've heard on here.

I've had the russell's for 2 1/2 years (about 9,000 miles) I just took the rear lines off yesterday in preparation for my 9" rear, and the russell lines look the same as the day i put them on, and they give your brakes a firmer feel for sure, just make sure you order the right set for your car (3 channel, or 4 Channel).

I went with the hotpart SS hoses. They are the only company that I could find that is an exact copy of the factory fittings and hoses along with a cover that shields the stainless braid from debris. They also say that they are made in the usa and pressure tested to 3000 psi.

I went with Goodridge lines.. That is until I put Wilwoods on the front.
Anyone want my 2 front Goodridge lines? They literally only have like 1500 miles on them. Still perfect..
Ill let them go for $100 shipped. Pretty good deal considering my set (4 channel) was like $253.

The "issues" with stainless line failures is that some of the lines that are marketed, don't comply with DOT standards for crimping of the line to the fittings.
Having said that, I put Russell lines (or was it Earl's) on my car back in '97. It's been so long I can't remember, but I DO know it was one or the other. They've worked just fine.....
