Default upper shock mount hardware

I'm replacing springs/shocks this coming weekend and I want to upgrade the bolts and nuts on the upper mounts. I hear the torx head bolts strip easily and I've almost rounded the nuts when I installed my STB

is there a kit or, since I'm replacing the mounts entirely and have the replacements on-hand, can I simply take them to the hardware store and find better nuts/bolts?

TIA

for nuts and bolts, just hit the hardware store. It'll be far cheaper than what most companies would try and sell for a "kit" anyways. Just make sure you get high grade parts (at least grade 8+, safer grade 10)

You might consider replacing the upper shock mount...mine were pretty rusted when I replaced mine. The new ones came with new hardware...just stay away from moog, their bolts were too short to use a strut tower brace with.

In that case, go OEM only. I wouldn't recommend anything but OEM or Moog for the mount if you want it to fit right.

But for the price difference between Moog and OEM, might as well get the Moog mounts and then hit the hardware store for some longer grade 8 bolts.

I've got a pair of OEM mounts already - I'm not going to assume my 18yr old stockers are reusable

If the metal inserts aren't rusty, there's nothing wrong with the 18 year old stockers. With respect to the hardware, I think grade 5 is more than adequate. If you're stripping bolt heads, the bolts are too tight....

found some Grade 5 and 8 hardware but quick question - anyone know how long the front bolts need to be? ...they're metric so they come in 5mm increments

TIA
