Default Brake pedal stiff

I posted in the tranny section that my car wont come out of park. I'm trying to roll it on to a trailor. I have the alternator and coil bracket off, but the battery is still hooked up.

When I go to press the brakes, they are firm and there isn't much to room to "push" and I cant shift my tranny into neutral.

The car hasnt moved in 3 months, the brake pedal should "loosen" up some over time, shouldn't it?

I'm at a loss here...

I don't know. Most of the time when the engine cranks and the vacuum starts is when the pedal resumes normal feel. You don't have a brake issue.

Its a stock cam. But I am talking about with the car being off. I should have put that in the OP-I am trying to do this without the engine running.

Engine off- enough vacuum for the pedal to travel/stop car maybe 1 time before the pedal becomes very stiff with little movement.

^I geuss that would make sense because we pushed it into the garage and I used the brake to stop it and it hasnt been started since. Is there anyway to release the pressure without starting the motor?

Actually, you need to get some vacuum into the booster somehow. I can't think how other than get another running car close, use 20 ft(!) or so of vac hose and hook up the vac line from running car to your booster? Sounds crazy. Do you have a vac bleeder with adapters to apply vac to the booster perhaps? Someone on here should know...

After looking at the car more today, I think it is probably an issue in the shifter.

if your engine isn't running, it isn't supplying vacuum to the power brake booster, so you essentially have manual brakes. the car will still stop, you just have to push harder. there isn't a problem.

as for not shifting out of park, the key has to be turned a little before the shifter can move

I turned the key forward when I tried initially, no luck.
