Both companies offer great quality products. I pretty much used both on my car. I also have suspension parts from Spohn and Alston.

agreed and having that model in your sig is a plus!

Ive always used umi because of there excellent customer service , my car now has full umi suspension
Next time my motor has to come out I might buy a bmr turbo k member , its suppose to have more clearance then the standard k members (like the umi one I already have )
Either way they both make great products

The difference is I called up BMR many years ago and asked for a custom upper pan hard bar. They made it. Unfortunately, that is when we remembered that 98 Z's had a different gas tank and so it did not fit my 99 Z. Who mocks up a special, yet to be made, unimportant part on a whim for a guy? BMR did.

That is not the only time they were cool about this type of customer service. Their lightweight tubular subframes were created in the same way by a different user on this board.

You just don't forget that stuff. I have remembered that and buy BMR.

At the time no one was making an upper panhard bar. I wanted to test one out for more rigidity. Just another day at InstallUniversity. ;-)

Thanks for remembering us and using us for all your suspension and chassis needs. We do our best to accommodate people even when it comes down to doing stuff we don't normally do like custom parts.

For the record Ive had nothing but good experiences with BMR customer service when shopping for my springs. All my communication was by email without any problems at all.

Honestly I went with UMI for 3 reasons:

1). My car is black, and I wanted matching suspension pieces and didn't want a hammertone STB in my black engine bay
2). In the past I have read about some quality issues with BMR which I understand have now been remedied, but nevertheless, this takes some points off in my book.
3). I added up the prices of all the suspension pieces I wanted and UMI was slightly cheaper

I have both and I'm happy with both. I like BMR's springs. The powdercoating for both are great as well.

I do apprecite that UMI listened to customer demand and made the 3-pt subframe connectors for the convertibles as of late last year. thanks guys!

I really prefer BMR if you are doing a complete suspension because they are made to bolt together pretty much as a whole system with the control arms, panhard bar, subframe connectors, traction bar, driveshaft, driveshaft loop and if the car hasn't been wrecked and twisted everything lines up perfectly. I have BMR under my 1998 and 2000 Z28's and I had no problem with either one but I never installed a complete UMI system.

The UMI kits will do the same thing, no issues with working with other BMR items either. Just wanted to make sure people were aware of that

No dog in this fight as in the difference between those two particular company's but most parts will interchange as long as they are a stock style replacement item and not a custom item.

Example- Our K-Members are designed to fit stock lower a-arms which means our aftermarket lower a-arms will fit in any other k-member as long as it accepts a stock a-arm.
