if you can afford konis, get them. if you cant get or stay with bilsteins. Simple as that. You get what you pay for in this case.

It proves true with shocks, tires, etc. You really do get what you pay for. Spend more, and youll be buying a better product.

OK, generally;
Bilstein: Top notch quality, amazing ride vs handling balance
Koni. : Top notch quality, emphasis on handling/control, very good ride.

I've owned both sets, I found the Bilsteins left too much performance on the table for my liking. The Konis control the mass of the Camaro much better with a more responsive (sporty) feel. Not a boulevard cruiser ride, nor a race car setup either...

You can't go wrong with either choice, really. Decide what you want out of your car, and budget...

Bilstein : Good handling, good, comfy ride.
Koni:. Excellent handling, vehicle response, sporty ride.

I liked both sets, the Konis control the car better. They are KONI SPORT labelled shocks. The name says it all.

Simply, the Koni's offer much better control and give you some control over that control. Bilstein's are what they are, and they have less rebound damping. Set Koni's full soft, and you have something similar to Bilstein.... Can't think of hardly anyone who, given the choice since they have Koni's, runs them like that.

There a some folks who think that the Koni's aren't worth the money or that they cannot afford it or that they're too good to be true.
Others don't feel that they want to spend over $800 bucks on our cars, that they're not worth it.
It's your call.
I have stiffer springs than most folks on this site, 600lbs fronts & 200lbs rears(due to my amps & dual 10" subs) and I'm tellin you, my car rides smoother with the Koni's than my previous 93 z28 that had the Bilsteins and the Eibach Prokit springs on them and my wife swears that my car right now drives much smoother and more forgiving than when I bought it with the factory springs and deCarbon shocks.

It's all relative buddy.
Everyone has an opinion on what is considered a smooth ride.
I got a friend who at the time gushed about how his T/A handled so much better when he installed his Bilsteins and Sams springs and how he felt that it drove WAY better than factory, and he was right, the Bilsteins/Strano springs are better than factory setup...
And then he drove in my car and was pretty much disappointed with his ride quality after that.
And my SS would rape his car in the twisties

So it's up to you.
In my opinion, great shocks are the most important X-factor for our f-bodies and once you drive around and adjust the Koni's to the springs that you buy, then you're set.
BTW, the Koni's set at full soft front and rears are about the same as the Bilsteins so you can adjust them a whole lot more.

I would have loved to get Koni's. My wife on the other hand would have killed me. I went with the Bilsteins.

I'm also one of those guys who tries to do as much canyon carving as I can during the year, about 5-6 times a year minimum just pushing myself as much as possible and I wanted my car to be able to handle my "spirited" driving tendencies and I feel that my car is much better than my driving skills.
Now, if you're not one of those drivers who wants a great handling car and is okay with putting around with maybe taking on ramps a bit faster than normal and are not planning on doing anything too strenuous with your f-body then yeah I think the Bilsteins are fine but still, Koni's would make your car have a nicer ride quality still.
Give Sam Strano a call he'll steer you the right way based on what you want your car to do with whatever budget you have AND he will not sell you **** that you DON'T need.
Good luck!

I must say I was extremely disappointed with Sam Strano and his dismal customer service. If you are looking for Koni's check vendors like BMR. They are throwing in a set of BMR lowering springs for free!!

That sounds very unlike most of the other reports on his CS. Any details?

Well I do not think it is fair to post details considering it is one side of a story. In the end I am happy that things went the way they did as I was able to stumble into a sweet deal on the BMR website. Check out their handling packages and you will see what I mean. They have a lowering kit with the same spring rate as the aforementioned retailer but they throw them in for free when you buy their Koni setup. I was merely expressing an opinion about my customer experience. I searched it on these boards and I am not the first.
