Weld on or bolt on lca relo. bracket?
I ordered me a set of weld on relocation brackets from bmr. last night I did a search on relocation brackets and all I heard was negative things about the weld on ones. alot of people had problems w/ the wheels not being centered in the wheel well. After reading all about the weld ons Im about to sell mines and get the bolt on ones. so what do you guys think? should I get the bolt on ones, or go ahead and weld em on. thanks in advanced.

well i can tell u what happend to me. i got the boltons. bmr. talk about easy freeking instal!!! it was sooooo freekin easy. i did it with a spring and shock install so it was just a matter of sticking the re lo's on when everything was going back on. the only thing u have to do is cut a part on the car, but its very minor and its thin metal.

I would suggest you go with the BMR bolt-on's, helped install some on a friends SS a few years ago and they've worked perfectly over the years. If you just ordered them last night I'd see if you couldn't cancel that order and reorder bolt-on's. JMO

I have the weld ins and have no issues, not BMR though, you can screw them up, I am sure pp have too. If you dont get the location with the LCA installed you can weld them to far back or foward. But really any normal person should be able to follow the instructions and install them with ease....

I would go with the bolt ins. It's too easy to have the welder accidently bump the weld ins (like happened to me) and have them go in uneven. This resulted in some major tire rub and the wheels sitting uneven. I corrected it with some adjustable LCAs, but if I were to do it again, I'd go with the bolt ons then weld them in if I wanted that extra peace of mind.

I've had both. Had bolt-ons on the 10 bolt in the T/A. I got welded Spohn's for the Strange 12 bolt. The 01 SS has welded BMR's in it. The all worked well for us. The Bolt-ins are great for the 10 bolt. They should be all you need, but the 01 SS has it's 10 bolt in place. I think it makes all the difference to do one side at a time and have the rearend not move when they weld it in. That's where I think the wheel gap goes to hell for some. Hope this helps.

If you have a 10 bolt, I say get the bolt-ons... that way, if you ever decide to get a 12 bolt or 9" rear end, you can always sell the bolt-on relocation brackets and get some of your money back for them.
FYI, if you have a 12 bolt or 9", you'll need weld-ins anyhow...
