Default Groaning/straining squeaking noise when turning.

I don't notice it at higher speeds usually due to road noise and because im not making the same turns I would make at a lower speed, but when I am going slower and turning (thing driving around a neighbor hood or something, not the straight highway/street) you can hear a groaning noise, like a gargle almost, or a creaking door.

Is the noise at its' worst when turning the steering when the car's stationary ?
Power steering pump.
Over the past couple months,I've had that noise increasing. Two days ago,I suctioned out the fluid in the reservoir(engine not running) and added new fluid, did the same yesterday and noise decreased slightly after 2nd time. I'll keep doing it until most of the fluid has been 'replaced'.

No just when the car is moving. I suspect it may be my torque arm bushings or end links, I will have to check.

I've got a groaning, squeeking noise when I turn too, but doesn't sound like something coming from the PS pump or rack, more like the noise from bushings. 1997 Trans AM 122,000 miles, everything original as far as I can tell (only owned it since January and have put 2000 miles on it). Rack seems to be tight on its mounts so I'm stumped. Maybe it is the rack?

Front sway bar bushings(to frame),rear sway bar bushings/end links,rear lower control arm bushings(both ends),all my creaks/groans went away when I dis-assembled them,cleaned them,and lubed them with Permatex anti-seize lube(the silver messy stuff).

I'm getting ready to install my new shocks up front (rear is done) so was planning to at least squirt bushings, etc., with some spray lubricant to see if that helps. The car drives great; goes straight, stops straight, no wandering, so don't think anything is in real bad shape, but at 122k miles I should plan on replacing everything up there because it's time. I may try to sell it first though. My groans start with just a small turn of the wheel so it doesn't take much if any suspension movement to get it started. I really feel it's in the steering subsystem, but these things are tough to troubleshoot.

Yes, hard to describe. Mine is more a creaking really, not a constant pitch like a pump would make.

yes exactly. I wonder if all they need is lube liek stated above? I will have to check this weekend. if I do lube them I will give some feedback.

Where can you buy this? i think this may very well be the problem, makes sense.
