Default C5Z brakes on LT1

Brakes are about due for replacement, think I'm going to pull the trigger on the C5Z swap, but still have a couple of questions.

1. After searching, I think the regular c5 vette and c5z calipers are the same, is this correct?

2. Is there any reason to prefer the BMR over the UMI brackets or vice-versa?

3. Has anyone had any problems after cutting the ears off the spindles?

4. Will stainless steel c5 brake lines connect to the lt1 hard lines w/o issue/is there any reason to upgrade the hard lines?

5. Are the rotors for the base c5 and c5z the same diameter? Looking at 12.8 inch napa rotors.

Thanks guys

Yes the calipers are the same size. The only difference is the z rotors come painted from gm. Im pretty sure the rotors are same size as well. I got my calipers from a company off ebay already powdercoated. No problems cutting the ears off. I used the bmr brackets for my 96 and love them. C5 brake lines will not work, also stock length fbody stainless lines will not work as well, too short. I got my braided brake lines from a company calle kore 3 industries that fit perfect.

I believe WS6store has LT1 to C5 swap-specific stainless brake lines.

Here's my C5 Z06 setup. On the street I run Napa blanks and street pads. When I track I change out to slotted rotors and more aggressive pads.

1. yes they are the same size

2. Both are great. At the time when I got mine UMI was the only available one

3. no probs. On the 93, both had to be cut. Mines a 93

4. I got the Earls brake line kit and no issues at all

5. also the same size

How does the C5 calipers compare to regular LS1 f body calipers?

I'm currently using LS1 Fbody front spindles/rotors/calipers on my 95 Z and thought about a brake upgrade. Seems the only step up from the Fbody LS1 brakes to C5 brakes are a larger rotor??

If that is the case, can you not buy larger C5 rotors and fabricate a caliper "stand off" bracket to accommodate a larger rotor?

Can you use a C5 pad in a LS1 caliper and rotor?

You are unable to use a C5 pad in a 93-02 F-Body caliper, they use different brake pads.
