Default clunk when taking off

for the past few days Ive had a Clunk when taking off moderately from a dead stop... or when I accelerate fast at a rolling pace..

I jacked the car up and I checked all my bolts and everything is tight... the only thing is that when I grab the torque arm in wiggles in my hand when shaking it..

I am not sure if its supposed to do that or not.

also the clunk comes from the passenger rear of the car..

this all happened after I left an inclined driveway at an angle and a part of the car scraped the highpoint on the incline... before that it was fine.

not sure if I twisted the torque arm mount enough that its loose now or what..

I checked that as well and to my surprise it was an Energy Suspension mount ( I thought it was stock since it was black) its solid as a rock.

maybe, I havent dug deep around there to see if its worn out..

it only happens when the rear suspension squats on takeoff and accelerating fast so I dont know if a bad U-joint would cause that.

I am gonna take out the rear springs on Wednesday and re-install the OEM spring isolators at the top and see if that helps any.

Sway bar endlink or bushing loose?

I've ridden in a car with a bad sway bar endlink and it made a bad clunk going over any bump. I also had a rear sway bar installed on my car and I didn't tighten the bushing bolts tight enough on the passengers side and that side came loose and it felt like I had no sway bar in there! It made a loud thunk whenever I went over a medium-sized bump only because one bushing wasn't clamped down, yet the other bushing and the endlinks were fine.

I have had a broken torque Arm make that sound (actually several stock ones). They always broke between the bolts on top of the pumpkin.

doesnt clunk over bumps.. swaybar endlinks are poly and tight as can be..

I do know that when I jacked up the car to look for possible causes that I could wiggle the torque arm by hand...

Anything that wiggles under the car is probably not good. Stock or aftermarket torque arm? If stock, upgrade. If aftermarket, switch to a different company product.

This. I recently had the same clunking and had to tighten the rear T/A bolts to the pumpkin, and replace the T/A mount. Don't hear anything now. Good luck.

ok checked it out and the front bushing is all loose and old... rear bolts on the arm are rock solid... so I ordered a poly bushing for the time being until I can get a new torque arm come springtime.

proceeded to install the torque arm bushing today.... what a fucked up design... took me almost an hour just to get the damn clamshell off... and what idiot designer thought it was a good idea to rivet the stock bushing on???

the real kicker was that I ordered a 3rd gen bushing after realizing that the clamshell would not conform over to get the nut on the top bolt..

edit: I also noticed the whole clamshell was all deformed so I had to bend it back to shape the best I could... got a 4th gen bushing overnighted from Summit...
