Ferrari Killer
Hi Guys,
I had the opportunity to drive a Ferrari F430 around a track, on a couple occasions, last year. My curiosity is can a third gen camaro or G body(87 ss monte)be made to handle as well as the Ferrari. I'm talking ready made aftermarket suspension parts mated to the original frame.
For arguments sake, same driver, same road course, same power/weight ratio
Thanks guys

No, it will never be like a Ferrari 430, ever.
That Camaro at the Texas events is a full tube frame race car, GT1 spec. 700+ hp weighs around 2500 lbs. Shares absolutely nothing with a production car.

You could make your F body just like the GT1 spec for he price of the Ferrari's exhaust.... and have 1000 HP.
Ferrari and F bodies were designed for different jobs. Ferrari = track if your rich/looking pretty F body = 1/4 mile.
I looked into buying a used Ferrari or Lambo Gallardo, but after looking at the cost of parts. No Thanks. Viper/Vettes were the logical choice of the poor man.

Thanks guys,
Just thought it would be cool to beat them up on the road course.
I agree, Ferrari/Lambo was fun to drive but the cost of maintenance would be unreal, would hate to see what an oil change costs, lol

There is a huge difference in making one as fast as a Ferrari, than making one handle like a Ferrari. You can make an f-body fast if you open up your wallet, but it will never have the precise feel and balance of a supercar.

The fact Schwartz uses a triangulated 4 link in a chassis built specifically for cornering should steer you in the opposite directions of his products. To use that design on a clean sheet chassis is silly. It's no wonder his stuff gets smacked around by other pro-touring shops.

Had a C5Z and I can honestly tell you even my 01 Z28 with full suspension goodies would not at all keep up with it or it would be very difficult. Key is to have a strong foundation to start off with and a C5Z although not the best handling car was a very good start and very capable. Keeping up with if not better then a Ferrari requires the right car to start with, even still money and most important good driving skill.
