Default 12 bolt torque arm mount issues UMI

Is there a dedicated 12 bolt specific torque arm mount with out the 10 bolt holes.

My mount needed to be cut in order to fit over the 12 bolt moser differential thus also weakening and lessening the support
It appears that the resolution is to decrease the the diameter of the holes so less movement appears while driving
But with more material the design would be more effective and solid

Blue indicates stress marks now cracks and red outline indicates the area with no contact to moser 12 bolt

The bracket is designed with both 10 bolt pattern outwards holes and 12 bolt inner holes
In order to accept 12 bolt holes you have to grind off material (cut) leaving minimal area for support

UMI I offered to sell me the same part Out right since they can't modify one . Other option is their "bolt" kit I'd like to see who can offer me a dedicated 12 bolt specific mount with more material where I can trim to my preference.

Can BMR founders spoon or Mwc sell me a mount with out the 10 bolt holes??? I would be interested in buying two

You can use the 10-bolt holes on the 12-bolt. Cutting off the outside holes does allow the torque arm to slide in more to give more floor clearance. We have success cutting them. We however personally run the outer holes with our trimming and then dent the floor for clearance.

The Moser 12-bolt does use much smaller holes than factory, they use 1/2" instead of 14mm. the Moser bolts are also designed for a thin factory torque arm and using a thick torque arm mount makes the bolts too short. Because of this we make a Moser bolt kit seen here- http://umiperformance.com/catalog/in...roducts_id=742

99% of the 12 bolt torque arm mounting bracket issues come from the 4 mounting bolts coming loose and allowing the bracket to rock back and forth on the rear end. You can tell that this is the issue by the mounting holes in bracket being oval instead of round. This has been an issue with the 12 bolts for a long time. I always recommend that people use red Loctite on the bolts and check them periodically.

I know this doesn't help your problem but everyone's stock style torque arm brackets do not interchange with each other as far as I know. I'd suggest though that if you are going to cut these brackets down to the inside holes to avoid making floor contact to weld washers on the outside portion of the holes to help prevent this issue.

While it's necessary to cut the TA mounting bracket for the bigger aftermarket rears somebody cut yours poorly. When cut correctly to maintain the same edge margins around the mount holes as manufactured the mount is not weakened.
For reference look over the drawings on the last page of these instructions.

I just ran into this recently as well. The inner set of bolt holes are for the Strange S60 style rears. 12 bolts still use the outer set of holes like the 10 bolt. I have a bracket available to replace this piece, but I am not sure it will directly interchange with your torque arm. If you can get me a center to center bolt hole measurement of the rod ends that bolt your torque arm to the bracket I can compare it to mine and see if it is even an option for you.

^^ Agree. Our simple sleeve spacer and proper length bolt kit prevents this rocking from occurring. No movement, no stress cracking.

we had to cut and delete the holes for the 10 bolt in order to slide the bracket onto the 12 bolt housing. as umi stated if i were able to retain the 10 bolt holes onto the moser 12 bolt i wouldve. but there is no clearance with out cutting notchin or denting in my floorpan and it simply did not slide over the 12 bolt.

I have run a Moser 12 bolt for about 10 years now and about all brands Tq arms. No issues. But I had fabricated the correct hardware that UMI now offers. It isn't expensive. And you will never have loose bolts or broken Tq arms with the correct hardware.
