Default 2001 WS6 traction issues!

Hey all! I recently bought a 2001 WS6 with a bit of engine work done. It's got a FAST 102 MM intake with 241 heads and a comp cam. On the Dyno yesterday it's putting down 414 HP which is a strong baseline for me to build off of, but I'm 23 and just out of the military and new to the car scene. The issue I'm having now is putting it down to the ground. When I try to launch, or even just hit it in first or second gear the rear of the car Jumps up and down and the tires won't bite. I put on UMI rear control arms and a panhard bar and they help a little but it still jumps. The person I bought it from has 20" tires and its sitting on lowering springs. So I'm thinking the springs may be the issue. Does anyone have any experience with something like this? Or make any recommendations? I have eagle F1's on the back, very nice tires and I want to be able to put power to the ground before I add more HP.

We'd need more details...IMO the LCAs and PHB aren't going to help unless you did relo brackets as well. Depending on the brand of springs that may not be the issue, there are cars on strano springs cutting 1.5s 60' times. I am surprised that a cam car with a Fast 102 and stock heads is putting down 414 to the wheels, but I digress. So questions:

1. 20" wheels right? If that's the case going to an 18 or 17 would absolutely help
2. How wide are your 20" wheels?
3. What shocks and springs are under the car
4. Do you have LCA relocation brackets? If so, you can adjust there to help.
5. Auto or stick?

There is a ton of information on ls1tech, figure out what your suspension setup is and then search from there, it's hard to get our cars to hook on street tires at stock power (especially if you're dumping the clutch). And age is just a number I'm only 24. Also congrats on the car, and we need moar pics!

Why are you suorised it's putting 414 down? Also it has 241 polished heads with longtube headers. The current set up in the rear has bolt on stuff, and H&R lowering springs. no relocation brackets. The rear tires are eagle F1's and are 285's. Like I said I'm just now getting into things so I'm sorry I didn't give enough info. It's a 6 speed, stock tranny and rear end.

im cammed only and i put down 409/377 with stock ls6 intake and 241 heads and i was getting really bad real hop. after i installed my rear lca, it really helped with the wheel hop but i was still getting wheel hop from shifting from first to second. i've heard that lca relocating brackets will help alleviate the wheel hop. as for spinning the tires, get some stock 17's and put some drag radials.

Honestly I'm okay with wheel spin right now, I just want to reduce wheel hop. It doesn't sound natural and probably isn't good for anything haha thanks for the advise Guys. I have big plans for it, and WS6's have always been my dream cars and I'm thrilled to have one. I just had it dyno'd and tuned yesterday and that's where I'm pulling 414 from, I'm not just making that up

I was surprised because I was unaware that your heads had had work done. Stock 241s can be a bottleneck. Do you want a strip car or a handling oriented car? Sounds to me like relo brackets, better shocks/springs and some mor appropriate wheels and tires would fix your issues.

to reduce the wheel hop get lower control arm relocators . my brother actually has a red bolt in set for sale . Bmr makes them .

after that if that doesn't help an aftermarket tq arm is the next step.

Check bmrs site out and then pm me if your interested in buying them .

More often than not, the relocation brackets will fix this issue. Like the others have said, if it doesn't - maybe torque arm or new springs. One thing to check is the transmission bushing and torque arm bushing. If they're worn out, the whole driveline relationship is able to bounce around more than desirable.
