My only beef with sjm kit is the flaring tool. The stock lines are hard as crap to flare with it. I went with swageloks. Op if you're interested I can link you the info.

If you don't care about the weight reduction, can you just pull the abs fuse or relay under the hood to get the car to brake as if it did not have abs?

I believe more or less yes.

I was hoping that was the case. I don't care about the 12lbs but run a 26.5 tire on the back and there has been times the abs kicks in and actually makes it hard to slow down after a wot pull

Just wanted to be sure your statement was completely ridiculous. Thanks for clearing that up.

I see a few people on FFRAX who have removed the ABS and added a BPV and they claim it stops shorter in dry conditions. Others say you'll miss it in poor traction areas. I personally wouldn't remove it from a daily driver, especially if anyone else might be driving the car who isn't accustomed to the lack of ABS, but that's your decision to weigh what can be done vs what should be done.

Good lord guys, I was gone for a day and theres a huge argument. Yes this is my dd. springer_4 LMK if you ditch it ill probably take it. Before my f body I had an old c10 and drove that in the rain plenty of times, never locked up the brakes. Im not worried, I trust myself enough. High n dry has point, thats another reason I'm considering this mod.

01ss dont you only use the flare for new hard lines? You can use the stock braided flex line and everything will bolt right up, no?

Default F body ABS delete

I've only had the abs in my now non winter daily z28 ever actually come into play twice.

One time was sliding down a hill in the snow before I took it off the road as my year round daily driver. The other time was when I had older, barely passable, dry rotted tires on it for a few days and it was in the rain.

My 99 z71 truck has no abs and I've only locked the brakes up one time this winter on a patch of "black ice".

The bottom line is, if you're careful and know what to expect you can be just about as safe on the road. The problem comes from unknown circumstances like the black ice incident I had, or some other type of unnoticeable slippery surface arises.

I've driven a 91 geo storm, a 90 Buick skylark, an 88 Camry, a 93 s10 and now my Silverado all in PA winters with no abs and no problems, no accidents, no rolling through stop signs or red lights..

Now with that being said, I don't see a point in deleting it from my Camaro as of yet. If it becomes a weekend only/ strip/ nice day only kind of car, then maybe. But as of now there is no benefit for me personally.

The way I did it in my thread a flare tool isnt even needed. New line comes flared at both ends so you just use those, no need to flare anymore.

I went to Napa when I twisted my rear brake hard line, brought in my old line, they matched up the fittings at each end and added in a union to connect the two, and over twelve feet later, I had myself a brake line. Bent that sucker from ABS block to rear end and she fit in all the factory positions. Very easy and a lot simpler than it looks

I have ABS delete. It's fine. My ABS module took a **** and was screwing up my TPS sensor since they are on the same circuit. I pulled it and got my car running again. The SJM kit is nice but requires you to have a little bit of skill with the flaring. But if you do delete, I'd recommend getting the proportioning valve and adjusting in a big parking lot or something.

I don't drive my car in the rain and drive it on the street. And it brakes fine. Better than fine because I could actually bleed the brakes properly. The ABS module always kept me from getting all the air out. So I have a better pedal feel now too.

Not that anybody one here drives their car in the snow, but I like NON abs for winter: it stops faster. You can lock up the tires and dig under the snow to grab the road. Abs keeps you on top of the snow, basically hydroplaining on it, instead of digging down for traction. The obvious disadvantage is the car will be difficult to keep straight if they lock. Most people aren't aware that the purpose of abs is so one can maintain control under heavy breaking, not necessarily stop faster. A skilled driver can stop in the same distance or less without abs.
