Default Poly bushing maintenance

Looking at different lca and phb and I notice some differences. Some have grease fittings and some dont some offer both.

What is the difference between them?

How often do you need to grease/replace?
Are some press in and some not?
Is the grease needed for the 2 different just a different application method?

We make all of our bushings greaseable for longevity. All of our bushings are 2-piece and internally fluted to allow the grease to keep them lubricated evenly.
We only recommend using a fully synthetic grease on poly. Regular petroleum based grease will cause it to dry and crack. I normally recommend to my customers to pump a little fresh grease in them about every 8 months to a year for best service. I have had customers with bushings that have lasted for 7-10 years by just being maintained with fresh grease on this schedule

We do not make them greasable as we use Energy Suspension and their recommendation is Formula 5 Prelube or a synthetic, water resistant marine-grade grease. Only a small amount is required to properly lubricate bushings and metal components and to prevent corrosion.

Never had one bushing come back split yet.

I JUST replaced all of my Energy Suspension non-greaseable Poly bushings in the front suspension and will be doing the rear suspension as soon as possible. The Poly handles real nice but....... the noise just sent me up the wall. I had to take them out and grease them every year and I just got real tired of doing it.

This isn't a typical problem when they have grease fittings.

If your looking for something bullet proof that will require little to no maintenance and give you the added benefit of articulation like a spherical rod-end but without the harshness that rod-ends provide, check out our roto-joint.Very similar in ride quality as polyurethane.

Prothane super grease is what you want for poly bushings.

I may be an odd duck because any car I drive spiritedly I go through everything every winter anyway. Trust me it is a good habit and a safe habit to get into. So yearly maintenance such as this wouldn't effect me. All though I will always prefer heim joint over anything else.

Ok so sounds like they do have different grease based on the bushings.

Good info on mantinamce difference.

Do they sell replacement bushings or once they are done you have to get a new part?

Most companies sell replacement bushings for their components.

Depending on the tubing that is used and the design, bushings differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.

We keep them in stock and they can be purchased online or locally. Nice thing about using Energy Suspension bushings like we do is they give great tech on matching up bushing sizes with what they offer.
