UMI Releases New Product: Panhard Bar Lowering/Leveling Kit for the 1982-2002 F-Body
Competition Panhard Bar Lowering/Leveling Kit for the 1982-2002 Camaro and Firebird
P/N 2062
Priced at $299.99/kit
UMI Performance, Inc. is pleased to release our new 3rd and 4th Generation GM F-body competition panhard bar lowering and leveling kit. This bolt-in kit is designed to increase over-the-axle exhaust pipe clearance and also lower and level the Panhard bar. This competition proven setup includes an optional weld-in reinforcement plate for the factory panhard bar mount (required for competition use) as well as an adjustable strut to prevent lateral movement of the bracket system. Laser cut adjustment slots permit lowering and leveling the panhard bar for roll center height and performance tuning. This kit gives much of the performance of a Watts Link with easier installation and adjustment and at a lower price point. Supplied powder coated for a long lasting finish. 100% designed, manufactured and raced with pride in the USA.

A few things to add...
To learn more about this kit please visit the link to our website. There is a chance of optional welding depending on vehicle use and also a height the sway bar needs to be at for installation.
Second, if you have already purchased a UMI panhard bar relocation kit or own a different brand location kit P/N 2064 is the conversion kit.

This kit has been on our '99 all summer. It has track time at Putnam, Gingerman and Pitt Race as well as a couple hundred auto-x laps with 315 Rival S grip on all 4 corners.
Lowering the roll center really helped tuck the back end and helped mid-corner rear grip tremendously.

I bought the full lowering kit, and already had the umi phb installed for over a year.
I also bought the Strano/Umi coilovers, so my review will be for both things at the same time.
Should be installed by New Year. I'm in Atlanta, so the weather isn't too bad.

The lower control arm relocation brackets and the panhard bar relocation change only the angles of those items. These angles and heights influence handling (instant center, anti-squat and rear roll center height). The springs control the ride height.
So, no ground clearance issues...

Everyone on the phone wasn't sure if it would fit the moser 9" until I tried it, so I purchased it, and it definitely does not fit.
I asked UMI if they would consider working with me to develop a solution (I'm in the precision formed parts industry, so measuring and drawing prints is not a big deal to me), to no avail. Even asked if I could make it work just by welding the bracket in and correcting the hole geometry for the top, and they weren't sure.
UMI Response:
So unless you have a 10 bolt, or are looking to modify/weld, don't buy this

UMI Response:
"We have no plans presently to make it fit a 9" regardless of brand.
We can't manufacture any "one off" product.
And I can't answer whether you welding it would be sufficient. i can tell you welding is generally stronger than bolting together as long as the weld is sufficient and the geometry isn't changed."

Hello,
Unfortunately yes that is correct, we are not looking to adapt this item to a Moser rear end at this time. Maybe in the future but we are pretty back logged right now and behind on some upcoming projects. I am sorry.
That reply is protecting us, if you weld only and not bolt it we can't be responsible if it doesn't work for you. So that is it should be a-ok but please use your best judgement and check the item. It's kind of a modify at your own risk. I hope that make sense,
Ryan

Adjusted the UMI panhard lowering/leveling kit. Had it on the lowest holes since install, raised it up 2 holes. Just in the time I was out running errands (~60 mi.). Dramatic difference. Rear is firmer (more oversteer). With it on the lowest setting you could feel the rear squatting more around corners (less oversteer).

Good stuff.

Nice job on making a level panhard bar kit guys. Probably something i shoulda did. I leveled mine years ago. I did it a little different than you guys but getting that thing level really helps keep the roll centers in check.
