Default Sway bar or Anti roll bar.. BMR

Hey, happy late 4th.. I had a quick question.. My 94' Z28 does a best of 1.50 60ft in the 1/4.. It's about 3250lbs with me in it.. I have a WS6 rear sway bar out of a late 80's Trans Am and an air bag in the right spring... I want to upgrade and remove that air bag etc. but would like to either maintain my current 60' or better it.. Which rear bar would you recommend? The SB003 or the XSB002? Car is street/strip

Difference between sway and roll bar? Factory bars are bad for launching, but then people put these giant setups in to launch better. What am I missing?

The SB003 is designed as an upgraded bar for handling and street performance. The XSB001/XSB002 is a streetable anti-roll bar. Lever arm style bars are very rigid and allow no articulation for street driving and will cause bind. Our bars allow just enough for smooth movement while still keeping the car flat well into the 1.1x 60' range

A true Anti-roll bar will be solid mounted and have zero give to perform properly. As well as the Midwest Chassis ARB you will not have issues with the bar hitting the shocks when turning left or right as it allows zero side to side movement.

Though keep in mind an ARB does not improve 60' it is only a tool to allow consistent 60's times by keeping the vehicle level as twisting is wasted energy. Our ARB has two different chassis mounting options. A weld in tab which we always prefer and a bolt on chassis bracket plus includes adjustable links for adjustment. If your housing does not have swaybar bracket mounts on it already we do offer those also.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Midwest Chassis ARB

Thanks.. I'm running Comp Engineering shocks out back and LCA relocation brackets.. Would that XSB002 bar clear the shocks?

Please understand also, stock style bars are heavy as ****, though I will say they likely work fine. But if I can get a bar that saves 10 pounds or one that gains 5, it's a no brainer.

"stock style bar", like if it looks like a stock bar (bent metal design) its heavy no matter what. If it looks like mine above (straight pipe), its lightweight.

There is nothing on the market that I know of that is as light as ours or performs as well. Of course a little bias on the performance part however the style we manufacture is the same or similar to what you will see on all the fast drag cars around the world. Mounting locations may vary and some have double arms or even bearing mounts but the style is the same as what we manufacture.

Like mentioning in the PM, if an ARB can move side to side, have mounting brackets that may move, or soft mounts there is a possibility of it not holding its intended settings. They should be rigid allowing zero movement anywhere.

Just food for thought here, the stock 19mm sway bar weighs 6 lbs, Ws6/SS 22mm bar weighs 8 lbs, and our anti-roll weighs 13. So there is not as stark of a weight differences in these as some would like you to believe

Sorry I didnt weigh them, and I admit that. But there is no denying stock style bars are heaviest. I know its only a few pounds but it all adds up eventually (if you want to trim weight).

I'd still be interested to hear and actual weight of a lever arm style bar. But a weight saving of 10lbs as often advertised is just not physically possible as I have shown. Unless it weighs less that zero? lol

You are talking about your rear bar right? A stock 4th gen ws6 rear bar is the standard 19mm bar all the v8 cars got, its super lightweight...

Well if we are going to discuss just the weight of the bar itself with nothing else then it weighs what a pound? However if you are talking every piece to bolt it on the vehicle including links, arms, mounting brackets, all needed hardware, and powder coated you are still talking less than 11 pounds fully loaded ready to bolt in.
