Default Motor mounts

Hi folks, I’ve got a 2002 Firehawk making 740rwhp. Under hard acceleration, engine is twisting causing y-pipe to bang against frame. I’m wondering would polyurethane motor mounts prevent this? Any recommendations? Thanks folks!

The factories probably have some wear on them so replacing them with a insert may not be a bad idea or even going straight solid and never have to worry about them again.

I'm a fan of the prothane inserts. Insert them into the clamshell. If you do go that route, make sure that your transmission mount is rubber, or you may get some vibration.

I had poly mounts for that very reason on the engine, the y-pipe was hitting the floor... then I added one to the trans and I found it improves shift feel. Last year I switched to solid engine mounts with the poly trans mount and it isn't that bad. If you don't really care about some extra vibration I would just get solid motor mounts.

Thanks folks. Prothane doesn't list the inserts for my application? What advantages/disadvantages do the inserts provide vs. solid mounts?

I’ve got Prothane on my car for the engine and trans mounts and they’ve always done well. If Prothane doesn’t offer the bushings for your application maybe try Energy Suspension. Idk If they have then but I would think someone should with the popularity of LS F bodies. You can always go solid as long as you don’t mind feeling the vibrations through the car. For some that’s game changer.

I also say go with solid. I went from beat up rubber to solid and it really didn't add much vibrations or noise.

Some say it isn't any different than what they noticed from their warn out and failing factory motor mounts.

I did Poly motor mounts in my 01 firebird (in 2012) and it stopped the exhaust hitting 100% and they are still going strong! My old mounts didn't look worn, they only had 58000km on them but the exhaust hit the floor without the poly.

I finally got my polys installed a couple of months ago. The grinding noise at idle stopped, but there has been a big increase in vibration.

Maybe he/she put a poly trans mount in. I would never do that, but that's just me.
