Default Brake Caliper Covers?

I have an 02 Trans Am and lately these covers have caught my eye. Tell me why I should or shouldn't buy them please. In my heart I think it's ridiculous paying $250 for something so stupid. I know the cheaper way would be to paint my calipers but I'm more of a purist and could never bring myself to do that.

Thanks Ron

I hold painting stock parts way higher than caliper covers on the tastefulness scale. I recommend doing a Corvette or Cadillac caliper upgrade.

The look like plastic covers. I personally wouldn't do it, because I think they look tacky, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you do you. Painting your stock calipers red would look better, imo, but it's just my opinion. It's only cosmetics, so it's all up to your style.

This is what those $250 covers look like to me

Do not spend $250 on caliper covers, WOW. That guy must be making a killing on those.

I would rebuild and paint them at the same time.

Just to clarify they are made of aluminum not plastic but the general consensus is what I was thinking already!
Let the comments continue to see if maybe one person likes them.
Thanks Ron

Caliper covers are tacky. There is nothing impure about painting your calipers. Every high end caliper, including Brembo and Baer are painted or powder coated.

Those covers look like just that, covers. Cheap, at that. There's a c6 vette running around here with them, makes me cringe everytime I see them.

But I'm also of the mind that if you haven't done anything to them, paint isn't where you start. Highlighting a brake swap with bright colors is warranted, highlighting stock brakes is not.
