I'm thinking about getting the KB's, but clearance is VERY important since I'm only a few inches off the ground. So I hear these tuck up really nice? Any clearance loss?

I keep putting this off and think I should have them done very soon.

I live down the road from KB's shop and have seen these on several cars and they seem to tuck up fairly close, Call them and talk to kevin fry and tell him what you are looking to do ( dimensions if you can get them ) and I am positive they can help you out.

I have heard bad things about the welds on the KBs deteriorating quickly. I went with the SLP bolt on SFCs because they are powder coated. I bolted them on first and then had them welded into place after that. I love em.

I've had KBDDs on for 100K miles and 4 years - no deterioration of the welds or anything else, and I didn't paint them after install. They've got a zinc coating on them from Kenny Brown that should provide adequate protection.

They tuck up very nicely - the exhaust is much lower than the SFCs.

Edit: I don't live in the frozen nawth where they salt the roads - so while the zinc coating is good enough for my purposes, you may want something mroe on yours in Chicago.

Thanks for the opionions guys. I'll be looking at a few others but when reading some reviews I heard these were some of the best and tucked up really good. Maybe I will consider the SLP's also...

They should, both Lane's and TSP's duals will work with the SLP sfc's (KB copies), so I would think they would work with KB.

If you are considering the SLPs, realize that they hang pretty low compared to the KBs. I don't really have any pics right now that show this, but if they weren't black, they would stick out like a sore thumb.

I wouldn't recommend the Kenny Brown brand of subframes. First off, they are way too heavy and add weight to an already porky platform. Second, the welds that were on mine, were very poor and already had corrosion on them straight from the box. There was even some of the wire feed left in some of it from the MIG welder they used. They are cadmium plated, and you don't weld on cad plated parts, as it's extremely toxic. I never did install the double diamonds on my car for the above mentioned reasons.I went my own route on that particular area. I've provided a link from this board that goes in on this in detail. There's also alot more on this topic, just do the research, and you'll get a ton of info.

I've got the SLP's and I don't consider them to hang "that" low. They are slightly visible, but I don't consider it offensive. And, it is a great place to jack up the car. Just toss a jack under there (Nascar style) and lift it up. The SLP's should be considerably stiffer than the KB's (which look quite spindly....we had a big thread on this with a few engineers and such on this board some time ago). I'd buy SLP's again, if I were doing it over. I painted mine black and don't notice them.

I second trackbird on the SLP SFC's. These are beefy units that will actually add stiffness to the car. As for welding to anything cad or zinc plated, I wouldn't touch that with a ten-foot pole! I know a guy that had half his body paralized for many months after doing that.

As far as I know the dude who welded my KBDDSFCs to my 99 (and the one who welded them to my 95) are still alive and kicking And I've never read of anyone having trouble getting them installed.

If you squat down and look at my car from the side, you can just barely make out something shiny running below the car. If youre standing up, and the car is parked on a level surface, you can't see them at all.

I'm not sure what's right, but the criticism of KBDDSFCs seems to go both ways. On the one hand, people say they are too heavy and unnecessary. On the other hand, people say they are to spindly and not heavy enough, so you should go with the SLPs which are thicker. I tend to come down in the middle - I think the value of the KBDDSFC is its triangulating design, and I think that design doesn't require the extra beefiness that the SLPs bring to the table.
