Default How much grease in zerk fittings?

I did a search on this subject, and couldn't find an answer to it. I recently greased the zerk fittings on my BMR LCA's with a grease gun (regular bearing/chassis grease) and didn't know when to stop. I greased them up until I saw the bushings expand, then unbolted the fitting to let out the excess grease. Is this right, or should I just pump the fitting until the bushings expand? Will they pop or anything? lol

pump it until u see it start to expand and stop hearing the air poping out. any excess will just come out the nipple anyway as long as you dont put way to much in there, but i doubt your dumb enough to do it to that point seeing you posted to ask what is safe lol

I just put three or four pumps in each fitting.

I pushed grease into my Panhard fitting until it spooged
out, but this hydraulically expanded the chassis mount
sheet metal tabs and made it clunking loose... I had to
put big fender washers and dog it down again after that.

It takes about 3-4 pumps on my Spohn pieces...like was stated above, the only real damage you could possibly do is spreading apart the mounting tabs. Hydraulics are used for a reason...they generate a ton of pressure. Not really good on mounting tabs though.

If you greased them on the ground, the poly would start to "unpress" itself from the metal sleeve. All you have to do is press it right back on and it is fine.

i fill it till it starts to spew out the nipple. i did 3-4 pumps at first and they squeaked on every bump. took like 5+ pumps to fill them up till spluge. i would think the lca mounts are stronger than the panhard ones, havent really looked at the difference. just be careful to check it on every pump so your not really overdueing it.

I always do a pump or 2 thats all I ever needed. If you keep pumping the pressure can blow the bushings out.

If you use a non-lithium based grease it can not be washed away by water and will last much longer.
