Default Bent K-member... what now?

Hey guys/gals, my 2000 SS was just diagnosed with a badly bent stock K-member. My Q is... what now? Replace it with stock or replace it with a BMR? I want to say BMR b/c it is lighter and give me more room to work on the car. But this car is a street car. Driven on weekends and nice days. It only sees the strip maybe once or twice a year.

If you think I shoudl go with BMR, will my stock A-arms work w/o problem? Will I need anything else? Will it make the car vibrate more? And last will it severely affect the "feel" of the car. Like the smoothness and ability.

Thanks in advance!
Brandon

The BMR is the one I'd ercommend for a street car. Along with the A-arms. I felt little to no difference between it and the stock k-member.

I agree with WILWAXU. My BMR k-member feels just like the stock one.

How did you bend the stock k-member?

Can I use stock A-arms?
And the car was stolen and the guy was drunk... managed to jump a median and hit another curb then off the road. Broke the SS rim in half. And locked the tranny somehow in the ditch.

We've already put a ton of things back into this car.

Viper Spec T56 (EPP)
Spec 3 Clutch (EPP)
18" Chrome Z06 rims/tires
EPP true duals with X-pipe with CME
New paint due to damage from going through a fence
LCAs
And of course a few other odds and ends.

It added up quick. But not my money... all his family's. No insurance involved.

Back to the topic. I've read a few bad things about the BMR. Esp things like broken ones. Have they revised the K member?

I pondered the same thing when I had to replace my stock K-member and in the end I chose stock again because I talked to a few different people with them and they said that theyre cars don't feel quite as solid anymore. They said it wasn't too big of a deal but I absolutely ******* hate rattling, vibration, weak structured cars and I want to feel as solid and planted as possible. My next addition will be SFC's.

My deciding factor was: Do i really want people to be thinking my car feels like a piece of **** on rough roads to lose some weight? My answer was: I hardly ever go to the track and my car is a pig with all the options anyways so I chose the beefiest, strongest piece which was stock.

If you like to be under your car all the time, don't mind a change in feel, and you really need to lose thirty pounds then go for it, but for the difference in prices between the two, I would buy rear LCAs, or a panhard rod or a shifter or something else.

Get an after market one and save yourself the time. As stated above, an after market one is better and cheaper than a stock piece of crap.

I've driven cars with other k-members, which didn't feel as solid as the stock one. I'd be willing to bet if I didn't tell you I had one in my car, you couldn't tell.

BMR was ordered from EPP and picked up today while I was at work. The car will be at the alignment shop tomorrow to see if the A-arms need replaced as well. Hell at this rate everything but the motor will be replaced/touched(upgraded!)

I actually ordered my stock piece from gmpartsdirect.com and it was only 300 and something after tax and shipping, if you went straight to a dealership you will pay 500 something though.

Anyways, let us know how it turns out.
