Default STB? Worthwhile mod or no?

I've heard many things about this, is this just an appearance mod or is there actually something to be gained from it under all kinds of driving?

I'd go for it, and get some sub frame connecters too!

Good for cornering but not something you want in drag. Mainly due to weight.

Weight on a STB is only 5LBS on a 2 point system.

My 'vert had an annoying "woggle woggle" when thrown around
corners, which the Hotchkiss STB made go away. So it does
do something. Some people seem to not think so but this is
my experience.

I've got the Hotchkis STB, ran 12.8 with it on. It helps with cornering, and made an annoying dash rattle go away after I put it on.

Its only 5 lbs... Try telling that to guys that drag race. These people take EVERYTHING they can for weight reduction. Especially on the nose of the car.

Only disadvantage would be weight and it gets in the way (or you have to remove it) when you go to work on your engine

I have a BMR two point brace and it tightened up the steering alot.
This was on a completely stock ta though. Plus it is under $100, last
time I checked.

I did it because is seems to help out with cornering a little, and they are cheap so not really a big loss.

It's worth it imo, the car corners better at higher MPH than it used too from what I do, sometimes when I'm lazy to use the brakes.

Maybe I'll get one then, just to round out all the other suspension mods. I can't wait until my SFC's get here first though.

I have a BMR STB and added the STB about a month after the boxed diamond SFC's. When I bought my car I hated the way it wandered around the highway, had alignment checked and was good. I did the SFC's and wandering was better, so for under $100 I decided to do the STB and it improved the wadering even more. Now it drives like I expected it to, so I highly recommend the STB and the SFC's. With the BMR it touched my tube from the A4, so I put a black foam cover over the tube to stop vibration.

One thing that made me go for the Hotchkiss, is its
mounting hardware; you can take the center bar out
(2 cross-bolts) to work on the engine and leave the
strut-attached plates in place. Plus it sets back kinda
out-of-your-face compared to others.

Same here. No more squeeks from my dash pad . And you'll love the subframe connectors .

I have the UMI Performance STB. Incredibly noticable difference in understeer. The car steers and corners like a much different car.

I was on the fence about these for quite a while. I made my decsion soon after loking at a new Motor Trend last fall. Both the Cadilac CTS-V and the new GTO have them from the factory.

Ya same reason I decided to go with one of those also. I felt I noticed a difference with the front end being a little tighter.

I'm not sure if it does much. But it does look nice under the hood.
