Default Cheapest deal on Bilsteins?

I'm looking at buying some bilsteins for the T/A and was wondering where I might go to get the best deal. I didn't see any specials going on right now but thought somebody here might know where to go. Most of the prices I've seen on vendor websites has been around $380 for a set of 4 but I'm sure there must be a way to get them for cheaper than that.

We have a couple of sponsors that will sell for 334 plus shipping (10.00).

One source is Sam Stranos.

I'll sell you my used HD's. You can get them re-valved and still have less money spent and a better shock.

Speed Inc was offering a $60 off code but I do not know if that is still going on. So, the final cost was $334.

Call Strano and ask him how much to revalve them for you. You still might be in it cheaper with used re-valved.

IIRC strano got around 500 for new revalves. I dont know what really goes on inside a shock, but is getting them revalved effectively rebuilding any wear parts at the same time? Or will a used shock stay a used shock?

Not sure how the revalving works or what all is replaced, best to call Strano's and ask him. He'll tell you whats involved. Great guy to talk to as well.

I only work with new shocks when I have stuff revalved. This is because more than once in the past when I accepted used shocks for revalving, I had some deplorable parts come in that needed parts not normally changed (like new shock rods). And frankly it became a huge hassle.

I don't do used shocks. Bilstein will directly, but if you go that way I'm not involved and they will not put any of my commonly used valvings in a shock where I'm not part of the process.

But you need to think about the bottom line. Buying a new set of Revalves for $500 plus shipping and selling your used shocks for say $150 or $200 actually puts you on equal or better footing. Revalving 4 used HD's (because I don't use the standard 4th gen valving in the back either) is more than $300 itself, not counting replacing any broken parts, and you have shipping to and from Bilstein as well. Buying new Revalves and selling your old shocks actually puts money in your pocket in the end. And saves time too since you don't have to wait for your shocks to get to Bilstein in the first place.

Im sorry, I didnt mean that YOU did revalves on used parts. I only meant that you had new revalves for around 500. Sorry for the confusion.

no problem.... Revalving generally refreshes the shock with new seals and such. But if you have a broken shock the costs go up. And again, if you have some old shocks Bilstein can rebuild them directly.

If you are a GM employee you can order them at cost directly thru Bilstein. Mine where $20/piece. They also revalved them for a little extra. No idea if this applies to other auto makers.

I find that hard to believe. Are you sure these weren't the regular decarbon shocks you got? If you can get them for $20 apiece I'll take a set.

lol I'm not in the business of ordering parts for other people's cars just offering the info. This was 2 years ago. And yes it is difficult to believe, but I have no reason to lie about this. They are not deCarbon shocks, I bought them direct from Bilstein and had them revalve them. I believe at the time they charged me $35/piece revalved.

You have to know these are marked up in price like crazy because of the Bilstein name. They also get marked up a couple of times along the way.

Yeah, my brother's friend's mom's uncle works for ATI and can get supercharger kits for like $200. I know, you probably don't believe me, but the retail price has a few markups so why would I be lying? This was like...a while ago. Might be cheaper now.

Let me know when ATI will actually pay me to take one of their kits.

OK, now that just sounded like sarchasm... lol Which I can appreciate, but you will just confuse people saying stuff like this... then they really can't tell truth from fiction.

Anyway, my claim is a little more believable because you can actually buy shocks (Gabriel or something like that) for $15. In this case I don't know a company selling superchargers for $200, they a bit pricier to make IMO.

Anyway, Bilstein's phone number in California is 1-858-386-5900.
