Default C4 brake rotors

I know there is a conversion for C5 brakes on a F-body, but I was wondering If C4 rotors are the same or would they even be a upgrade for a LS1 F-body. I can get a brand new set of GMPP cross drilled rotors for free for a C4 vette. Thanks in advance.

C4/C5 have different offsets. Without the caliper abutement to correct that (which do not exist as of yet, but are being worked on) the offset change make its nill for the swap factor.

If you plan on going with a 13" rotor, you might as well save for the C5 upgrade. If you have 17" rims, a 13" rotor should easily fit. If you have the stock 16" rims, you'll have to upgrade to 17" rims.

Well, Baer is toying around with the idea as we speak and there is no ET on when or even if at this time. We approached them for the abutement when we released our spindle..... as wanted the option for everyone out there that already purchased the C4 components..... to use them with our suspension components.

As for the stock/OE diameter, the C4 is 12/13 and the LSx/C5 is 12.75/13. Either way you look at it, the abutement has to be changed for a 13" fitment.

Ill second Foxx.... it would be a better choice to wait it out for the 13" gig. I have utilized the 13" C4 components in various 16" wheels, but the C5 stuff in a 16" is a definate ~No Go~.

BTW, what year F-body are we discussing here ?? There are some options open to some and not to other years....

btw rocketman, I didn't see what wheel diameter you currently have mounted. I do see that the C4 kit would be more economical for you however I would like to warn you about cross-drilled rotors. Regardless of brand, they will offer practically no performance gain, and have negative wear characteristics. Blanks would be a cheaper and better performing option, not to mention a good set of brake pads will certainly up the ante for brake performance.

You can perform a search concerning cross-drilled rotors and you will see quite a few critics with information on expensive cosmetic rotor options.

Also, some extra insight from one expert forum member:

I know they are prone to cracking, but they are free if I can use em. I also know that a bigger rotor vent's more heat. The car is a 2000 T/A, it will be driven spirited and Auto-Xed. It has the 16s now but I have a set of 17s that will go on it before I drive it.

I had the C5 brakes on my 76 until I found the C4 wheels that are on the car
now. They did not fit the C5 brakes, but the 13'' C4 rotors have more off-set and worked well. I had to use sp. adapter bracket. Its like bobs old steel bracket but made from 304 SS. I still used C5 calipers & added an SS shim to inner pad to make up for the thinner rotor. The car brakes very well. The 99 ABS is on the car also. This is a steet & show car.

Would it be possible to make it work myself, like build my own brackets? Also what if any advantage is there to run the vette calipers. I plan on useing SS lines and Hawk HPS pads.

Your best bet would be to do the C5 upgrade,
With plain C5 rotors . Dale

I got the C4 rotors for free, I guess I'll sell them and buy some C5's.
