Default Spohn TA...Chromoly or Mild Steel

Well I think i might take the plunge and finally get the last piece of the suspension puzzle, a spohn Torque arm with DSL. So far all my tubular pieces have been mild steel, but I feel as if Im just going to have to replace them in the Future with better parts. Should I spend the extra $125 (that I really shouldnt be spending) on a Chromoly piece to save some weight and still have the strength? The car will probably be 80% street, 20% track give or take. The ony thing the car has goin for it is its pretty light so any added weight I kind of want to avoid. Go chromoly or mild?

Here is a pic of the TA if anyone hasnt seen it:

if your worried about it, get the chromemoly. otherwise, i would think the weight gain is somewhat negligable.

I think im leanin towards mild steel. I dont think I will be making enough power to ever worry about breaking the thing...not to mention its an automatic. Ill sleep on it, lol.

Correct me if I'm wrong (anybody?), but I do believe that the chromoly is just lighter (by a little) than the DOM/mild steel at the same strength rating, not stronger (due to thinner walled tubing), while possibly being more brittle.

Well from what I understand its a stronger material so it can be made thinner and lighter, so maybe its not technically stronger. I guess the weight savings isnt really worth the money.

I went with the mild steel Spohn unit for my T/A - no problem whatsoever using it at the RWHP/RWTQ numbers that my car is putting down (see sig).

Yea I dont think my car will be seeing that kind of power any time soon...and if it does its because I came into a flood of money (which wont happen any time soon), so upgrading wont be a problem.
