Z06 Calipers
Can I order the Z06 calipers from Mid America for the C5s and just bolt them up to my 00 Z28?

so i can just buy two zo6 from calipers and bolt them up to the stock mounts and use the stock disc? how much would that improve braking?

they might be cheaper if you just buy them seperate from SDPC.
$340 plus shipping.

and they are the same as ls1 calipers, just powdercoated red.

Corvette Caliper's although they look the same they are different. They are casted different. Camaro Caliper's have a tendency to flex outward where vette caliper's don't. Yes Z06 Calipers will bolt up and work fine with your stock Rotors and pads. But if it were me I would go ahead and get the Z06 Caliper's and then buy some vette rotor's which are a inch larger than the F-body rotor's. There around $50 bucks a piece from your local autoparts store. You will have to buy the Caliper Bracket's from LG Motorsports to make this work. But you will be pretty much making a cheap big brake upgrade kit.

FYI there is no difference betwene the C5 and Z06 caliper except for the paint. Unless you purchase the brackets and C5 rotors, you wont see any type of performance gain. Also the C5 calipers have a smaller piston than the F-body caliper, so I wouldnt do it unless you were doing the whole C5 conversion anyway.

One thing to keep in mind ...
The distance from the piston surface to the outside "ear on a C5 caliper is more than that of a F-Car caliper. the reason is to accommodate the thicker rotor.
So, with a C5 caliper and F-car rotor/pad combo, the pistons will extend further out of the caliper. The C5 rotor is over 1/4" thicker.
This might become critical when the rotors and pads are worn as the caliper pistons will extend an additional 1/4". I've never heard of a piston popping out, but this is fair warning ....

Nice guys. I have two things leading into getting these calipers. 1)I have to get my front driver caliper replaced because the rubber seal around one of the pistons is cracked 2) I also have to paint my calipers and rotors now that my Y2Ks are on there and clean it up. Just trying to kill two birds with one stone. If the SDPC calipers are painted I feel that I'll buy them replace all of them before the car goes away for the winter, also I just order Russell brake lines so I will get everything changed out at once.
Could it be worth the money to find the stock calipers and just buy the fronts. Can I get the stock ones anywhere(NAPA,Pepboys, etc.) and then paint them all around. I already have the black paint to go with my black inside/polished face wheels.

I'll agree with stang killer. All else equal, swapping Z06 or C5 calipers (same thing) for F-body calipers will actually cause the car to stop slightly worse. The C5 caliper's pistons are 40mm or so, where as the F-bod is 44mm (I think). By swapping to C5 calipers, you're reducing brake torque, and thus lengthening your stopping distances.
Hopefully Laramie from Precision Brakes will see this and possibly explain further. He persuaded me to not swap to Z06 calipers on my SS. He's the guy you want to talk to about brakes.

I figured that I could do the seals and the boots but I don't know if that cracked rubber may have allowed any damage to my caliper. Where can I find the kits cause if I could replace them, I might be able to just clean them up and paint them when I change out the lines for my Russells.
Is it worth the effort to replace the boots or just get these remans and paint them black? http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/nc...grpid=65353895

I am not sure about newer calipers, but when I put new brakes on our 1978 Firebird the front caliper assemblies were only $12 each at Autozone!! I wish I had known that from the beginning because it took a siezed caliper forcing me to get new ones to find it out. I just cleaned, taped, and painted them black before replacing them on the car.
