Cutting the springs is not a wise idea. To begin with it changes the way the springs sit in position. And to be honest, I've see you say a few times that you wish it was 1/4" lower. That's such a small amount in the grand scheme of things that I think you'll have a hard time hitting the mark right on. Certainly if you have to have it lower than you should. The trouble is the Pro-kits are hugely inconsistent and when you get a low set they rate is too soft to keep you from really riding on the bumpstops all the time. A good height set works pretty well and that's really your only choice as far as I'm concerned that will lower you more without causing a disaster.

to those of you with bilstein shocks and hotchkis springs, does it really take a year for them to settle down all the way? how is the handling and comfort on a slightly bumpy road?

Bilstein's are not valved for lowering springs. Shocks are spring dampers, when the damper is not intended for the spring rate it's not an ideal ride or handling setup. And any spring that takes so long to "settle" has issues with rate and winding. Springs are pre-set (compressed) when they are built, and if the metal is any good they shouldn't be changing over time.

great thread.
has anybody ran the slp 1" drop springs?
im thinking of trading my sportlines for these slp springs due to headers and true duals. i want to kill the 4x4 look without killing my exhaust.

Strano Springs, Koni SA shocks, 17x9.5 front, 18x10.5 rear C5 Z06 wheels. The ride height on these springs are perfect. I purchased the springs and Konis over the summer, thanks again Sam and Arlyn!

Prokit and SLP Bilstiens.. ... Yeah I know... bad springs.. Riding on the bump stops in the back.. chopping soon.. SLP LT's also... TERRIBLE clearance.

2000 Camaro Z28 M6. 18" AR Rebels. Rolled rear fenders.

Default Intrax and Decarbons

Very inexpensive way to go. Looks OK, rear seems low for my taste, and ride is harsh. My guess is better shocks, maybe Koni DA? could make this a nice set-up.
I did some before and after shots to help see actual results:
Side with stock springs

Front stock measurement

Rear stock measurement

Side with Intrax and stock shocks

Front Intrax/Decarbon measurement

Rear Intrax/Decarbon measurement

what would be my best option for the konis 4/3??? currently on prokit but ride is too bumpy. Clearance is not good but I'm okay with that. What is a stiffer spring out there with a nice drop. Looking into the bmr or hotchkis...any other suggestions?

thanks
