What kind of Motor Mounts On my high mileage 98 Z 28 i have realized that the stock motormounts have become excessively worn. Now I am buying a VERY large cam to put in for cam only AND WILL ASLO BE CHANGING OVER TO A BORED AND STROKED 6.0L Iron block in the not so distant future.
I would like to know what kind of motor mounts would you recommend? jsut a Stock replacement, some sort of aftermarket rubber/poly type motor mount, or a solid motor mount. The car will see very little street time and will be mainly used at the track but of course the occasional cruise.
Which would you recommend? What company etc? Would there be any benefit to solid motor mounts? What about Negatives to having solid ones? Will anything need to be changed for this?
Please state what knowledge you have of this and any suggestions

W/ solid motormounts, the rear wouldnt be able to sag so i could bolt up the transmission more easily would it? or does it still for some odd reason allow that to happen?

Well is anything is loose it'll vibrate.. be prepared to do some tightening.
Good point on the sag thing.. but you could back the bolts out some to sag the rear of the engine if you need to. I haven't done a clutch yet in my car. And my friends car we did the clutch before the motor mounts.

At the VERY least go with poly mounts... it'll pick up some serious slack in the drivetrain and you could go with solid - you'd get lots of vibration but if it's mainly a track car, who cares?

Ok people that are saying solid motor mounts for a race car, how many of you have actually driven an LS1 with solid motor mounts?
when i threw mine on i noticed absolutely no viberations or anything. all it did was feel like i had put a better torque arm on. the car felt like it was putting the power to the ground ALOT better.
The only side effect i did notice was the cold start knock that my motor had got conciderably louder cause it was now transfered throughout the car. but it went away after it reached operating temp just like normal.

Well i've decided to go w/ the BMR Motormounts I guess they are Prothane motor mounts. Sites kinda confusing. Only problem w/ them is they are on backorder now (if anybody has any info on this please plet me know) thanks everyone for your input and see ya'll on the track. Your info is greatly appreciated

I've heard rumors of solid motor mounts causing issues with wet sleeved blocks (stressing the block causing distortion)? Is this just a rumor or is their any truth to this? Thanks.
