Default Question for Mr. Strano

Hello, I've been reading the posts in this section and you've helped shed some light on suspension for me. I plan on purchasing a 00 Z28 in the summer and one of the first mods I want to do is suspension. I considered coil-overs but reading one of your posts I found that they are most likely not necessary for what my car will be used for. The car will see some drag racing (probably twice a month) but my main concern is handling (fish-tailing is a bitch). I would like your opinion on what you think would be a good setup for the car. Sway bars (I read up on yours and I like what I hear), control arms, panhard, shocks, etc. Also, will I run into a problem when I get the true duel setup? Thank you for your time. Opinions from others welcomed as well.

Your best bet is to call him and talk to him. He'll tell you way more than you ever asked for, but it's worth it.

In my opinion coil overs are not necessary unless you need to constantly alter the height of your vehicle. Sure it is nice to be able to, but you have to ask yourself how much you really need it. I spent the extra $ for coil overs on a prior vehicle of mine, just to find out that I set it at one height and ended up leaving it! This time around I just went with the eibach prokit, it has a 1 1/2" drop. It's enough to make a difference in the 4x4 stance, but it still performs very well at the dragstrip.

best things to start with are an adj. phb incase you lower later and lower control arms. get poly bushings to keep it quiet. relocation brackets are optional..id recommend them and for only 70 bucks or depending on who u get them from isnt a bad price. As for shocks and springs, give sam a call. he will take the time to talk to you. even if its just to clarify confusion..he'll help.

Sam is an incredible resource, when i set about going through my suspension he directed me to several choices and what i ended up doing was going with his revalved bilstein/koni combo as well as his massive front sway bar. He could have sold me the whole catalog be he is VERY honest with you and will tell you if he thinks a part will make only a marginal difference or a big one so that you can decide on your goals and what you expect your car to do in different situations. With me he could have told me i would need his rear bar as well but he told me to try the setup first and then, in steps, we could chase what i was looking for if not satisfied.Of course as it turned out his initial thoughts about what i was expecting my car to do were correct and thus saved my $$$$ that i probably would have blindly spent if not for his guidance. My car handles like a road racer while still getting very good traction which is what i wanted as our cars are already great handling cars and can "burn the turns". Anyways as usual i am long winded so long story short i would never use any other resource than Sam Strano for my suspension setup! CALL HIM BRO! You and your wallet won't regret it!

PS: He also helped me setup my 95 impalla SS to handle like a car weighing 1000 lbs less!

Love to help.... can't and won't do it online. Can't do it well, because I can't know all the things I need to know in order to recommend parts. There are hundreds of posts from my customers out there, and if you read them you'll realize that not everyone has the same parts. That's because not everyone wants the same things, has the same budget, and so on.

I work case by case, and I need to speak to my customers to do a proper job of it. It'd be really easy for me to sit here and spout "you need this and that that", give out pricing. Hell, I'd probably make more money doing that... but it doesn't get the customer what best suits them. And I'd rather do that, because those people are return customers and I don't have to feel guilty about selling something that wasn't the best part for the job.
