Question Hyperoils Springs Shock Options?

Ok I'm finally in the market for some new shocks. I tossed the stock Z28 springs for a set of Hyperco Hypercoils a year ago. Hypercoils rates the springs at these specs

............................................... Front ..... Rear .. Drop
Hyperco Hypercoils Fbody Springs 360-580 168-216 1.25"

I dont autocross, this car is mostly daily driven. Now I know the Hypercoils are stiff autoxing springs, but personally I like the ride height and the stiffness doesnt bother me with bumps.

So my question is what are my options when it comes to shocks? I know Konis will be the optimum setup, do I have any other options? I figure since my car is mostly daily driven I could go with somthing less expensive than Konis. So it comes down to, can I find a stiff shock like konis, for less?

Any advise from the suspension guys around here chip in. Thanx

Stiff springs might not bother you (and that's good, because the rears are quite stiff). However, stiff springs require more damping to control them. And frankly Koni's are really the only thing I'd use on them.

I generally don't even do Revalves for springs with that kind of rate, and that's going to the be issue. The choice of spring in this case really dictates your shocks. In the springs that have rates that fall into a more "normal" range (Eibach, Hothckis, BMR, DMS etc.) then you have a lot more options. The spring rates open the door to Revalves really being in their element.

I have a quick question. G2 springs are pretty similar to the hypercoils specs. And when I asked LG sales what shocks they sell for those springs they recomended Bilsteins HDs.
..........................FR Rear..... Drop
G2 Super Springs 550 180-220 1.50"

SHould I try those or just hold out for Konis?
Is there really no shocks that work with these springs or is it just the rear springs that are dictating that? I mean Ive drove on stock shocks for over a yr now.

So whats the stiffest shocks or should I say, what shocks can damp my springs like Konis?
Thanx

I'd say you are fine with either Koni's of Bilsteins. I had them both. But the Koni's were better. So if you could afford it go with the Koni's

Koni's definetely. The only other shocks I would reccommend would be single or double adjustable VariShocks. They are less expensive than Koni's and are of equal quality. I have the VariShock SA coilovers and they are great handling shocks and springs.

SA = single adjustable, DA = Dual adjustable
The difference is about $400, DA's are really good for dialing in the corner weights of the car and the balance of the handling in racing situations. SA's are simultaneously stiffened for compression and rebound instead of independantly adjusatable. SA's are perfectly suited to street cars.

Acutally, I believe that Koni SA's are rebound adjustible only while compression remains static, something that sets it apart from some other double action single adjustible shocks out there.

From my experience with DA's (when I had them), was that any compression adjustment damping will yield better control over the unsprung weight of the vehicle. For a street vehicle since mostly the sprung weight is the highly critical adjustment, however the dyno's for the Koni DA's compression aren't much different from the Koni SA's.

Strano will be your best bet, best move would be to wait until you can get Koni's. You won't be dissapointed.
