Anyone Dared To Lower Their Car w/TSP Y-Pipe?
I have a TSP catted-y on the car, and I also have a lowering kit sitting in my bedroom. From the looks of it under my car, I don't really have enough room to even think about this.
Just wondering if anyone has done this, or if I have any options (yes I need cats in Nj.)

I went from stock to the TSP catted y-pipe, so yes, it scrapes more. But I expected that.
My advice/things I did to not scrape as much:
1) Not sure which catback you have, but I have the Magnaflow setup. On mine, I was able to get some good ground clearance back by having a muffler shop heat up the pipe that bends over the axle and cram the intermediate pipe further into it. It's a little hard to describe, but if you think about the I-pipe and how it's connected to the y-pipe, the higher you can get the BACK of the I-pipe (where it goes into the over-the-axle bend), the closer it will tuck your y-pipe to the chassis.
2) The downside of step 1 is now your y-pipe will bang on your floorpan. Get a bumpstop of some kind to keep this from happening. Mine is just a folded piece of fire retardant material that is jammed in there really tight. Something else you could do is get some heater hose and cut it into long strips. Lay the strips on top of the y-pipe and use a band clamp to hold them in place. Thunder Racing also sells a Mufflex bump stop that looks like it would work well. I have one, but never put it on because my local speed shop was able to get the fire retardant material jammed in there, and it was FREE.
3) Speed bumps, angled driveways, and large dips/bumps in the road are not your friends. Avoid them, take them at angles, etc.
4) Get good shocks. The better your front dampers are, the less likely you are to bounce your y-pipe off of stuff. When I went from KYB's to Koni's, I stopped scraping on almost everything. The KYB's were very soft, so they couldn't stop the springs in time to keep me from hitting.
I'd still like to get a little more clearance. I'm even kicking around getting someone to custom fab me a new y-pipe. Maybe something with oval pipes. I KNOW it can be done, because someone on this board once had a shot of his custom made y-pipe and it was a work of art.

I have hotchkis with Pacesetter LT's TSP ORY and Rumbler I've only scraped twice, a mis judgement in terrain. Very easy to drive with even in College Station where everything is on a hill. Ill post some pics tomorrow if I can.

jig out of wood that will let me oval down the tight
spots while keeping the pipe from bending out of
line. The low spot is just trying to dodge a couple
of floor pan bosses and I'd tolerate a short, slight
bit of reduced cross section to get back an inch of
ground clearance.
But then I'll have to pull apart the pipe -again-....

I used the TSP catted y with my pacesetters. Hind site being 20-20 I believe there are better systems that are catted a well. I also installed a spohn Tunnel Brace because my stock one would no longer fit. I want to lower as well but I do not think it will be worth having to worry about every little dip in the road. I have dragged only once but it almost wore a hole in my drivers side cat!!!!!

Wow. That is beautiful work by that shop. I just want to bring that to every exhaust shop and say "LOOOOOK, CAN YOU DO THIS?!?!".

I actually gained ground clearance. I did lower first and when i went to the TSP non catted Y and Pacesetter LT's I gained clearance over the super gay stock Y pipe with the flat spot. Crazy.

my car is lowered and i got the catted y.
it scrapes everywhere.. so bad that my driver cat has almost been scraped right through.
you cant be slammed and have headers and be happy.
you just cant have best of both worlds, so i bought an air ride kit. this should remedy my problem.
