C6 ZO6 Brake Set up on F-Body?
C6 ZO6 Rotors & Calipers on '99 Camaro
I have the new rotors and calipers for the ZO6, what do I need to do to use them on my '99 SS???? Thanks in advance.

I have a similar related problem. I have access to a cheap set of C6 calipers (front and rear) + rotors from a z51 package. What's needed to get them on? Also, Wassko, where did you get your Z06 stuff and what were the part #'s used? Thanks.

Don't hold me to this but I belive you need the brackets also. From what I remember the ZO6 rotors are like .100" further out so you need to pull the calipers out to match.
If you run a search I am sure you will find more on this, but if I remember right this is the situation.

If you want to run the Corvette rotors as well with the Calipers then yes a bracket is needed to locate the caliper in the correct location. If you take a look at the link below there is some information that should help out.

Hope that helps!

I purchased the brackets from www.lgmotorsports.com. You can talk to Anthony. I am not trying to slam anybody here but the LG brackets do not require that you cut your old mount points off unlike the UMI part. Additionally the LG part puts the stress loads of braking back on the stock caliper mounting points, while the UMI part puts this brake load several inches inboard on the back of the wheel hub. I have not actually put hands on the UMI parts but the LG parts are very high quality machined units with superior hardware. Just thought you might like some facts.

Just be aware that the LG kit uses the LS1 F-body Pad Abutment brackets. The LS1 PAB uses smaller bolts and the holes are smaller. So you will not be able to use them for a C6 brake swap (Z51 or Z06) without some modifications and I can't promise that there is enough material to enlarge the hole size (I can't say that there isn't either, just be aware). This is not to say anything bad about those brackets, just that there are differences between the kits and you can't use all kits for all things.

Although both UMI and Trackbrackets may require cutting they can also be used on a 93-97 LT1 vechicle when the LG brackets are 98-02 only.
Hope that helps,

Like I said I am not trying to get a fight going. Attached here is a pic of the LG brackets installed on a 98-02 Fbody. As the C5 z06 calipers will bolt on directly to the fbody spindle then they should also bolt directly to these bracket. If you are trying the C6 z06 calipers all bets are off because they are 6 piston brembo units and I believe they require a minimum of 18 inch wheels. If you want a bigger caliper you could look at the Stainless Steel Brake company. They make 3,4,6 and 8 piston calipers. I know for sure that the 3 and 4 piston type are direct bolt ons. Not sure about the 6 and 8. Good luck

We weren't talking about the C5 Z06 stuff, we were saying that the C6 Z06 stuff will not fit that kit without modification. There's nothing to fight about.

Trackbird. Just so I understand are you saying that the C6 zo6 6piston front calipers will fit on the fbody with your brackets???? If so with what rotors? Am I also correct in my understanding that this will require 18 inch wheels? Additionally if someone was to install the 6 piston calipers what is needed to handle the now grossly front biasing? Will a new master cylinder be needed? Let me know your thoughts

Yes, it (it=C6 Z06 stuff) will fit with the brackets (using the C6 Z06 rotors, or you can use the C6 Z51 calipers/PAB's and C6 Z51 rotors instead, either one will fit). It (C6 Z06 stuff) also swaps right onto the C5's. The C5's I've seen have had no bias adjustments done and are working well (as I understand it). Based on GM's history (of parts being swappable and using 3 brake kits on the Corvette, I'd guess there is a single master cylinder being used on all three, the base brakes are the C5 brakes, then the C6 Z51 are larger, and the Z06 are larger yet), I'd guess the bias shift is minimal, but I've not had the occasion to work that out (if anyone can provide me the piston diameter on those calipers and rotor diameter, I'll look into it). So, I don't think it will be grossly front biased, but it's a "best guess" so far. Since they will work on the C5's with a stock master cylinder, they should also be just fine on a stock master in an F-body.
Bias is determined by the proportioning valve (EBC on the LS1 cars), rotor diameter and caliper piston size and number of pistons (piston area). Don't confuse bias with "increased thermal capacity" of larger brakes. You can have "huge" brakes on the front, but if the piston area is reduced, the bias can remain the same.
Yes, 18" wheels are required.

Ok...............the bottom line. What exactly do I need to put the C6 ZO6 rotors and calipers on my '99 SS camaro? I already have the 18" aftermarket C6 ZO6 wheels. (I did not believe that the 19" rear wheels would fit, that's why aftermarket.) Thanks!
