Default shock tower brace....good mod?

is a shock tower brace a worthwhile mod for an LS1 fbody? would it help out for racing such as road racing and autocross?

Yes, it will stiffen the front of the car and will stop the front end from rolling from side to side.

To me, all it has been useful for so far has been that I can use it to lean onto when I am tired working on the car I have figured since 4th gens do not have struts, a strut tower brace doesn't do much, if anything, as far as improving the handling. I have an almost stock suspension 1994 Z28 with a STB and a stock-suspension 1998 Z28 without an STB, and I don't feel any difference in the way both cars understeer or transition from side-to-side. Good luck.

The K-member takes all/most of the load. They're mainly an appearance item IMO.

Take the swaybar off and drive it. Put the STB on and see if you can tell. It makes the car feel better with the swaybar off for sure.

here's a thread that can be merged into this since a nearly identical enquiry was used by the thread starter.

Mine works best as a handhold when working on a warm engine.

My two cents say yes, a STB helps in handling. I have the Hotchkis unit in my ride.

The ultimate mod is to wind copper wire along the length of the shaft, apply current and the resulting EMF will give you a positive charge on the air in the intake.

This positive charge "excites" the fuel when they mix in the chamber and it results in a 20% cleaner burn.

Guaranteed 50hp and cooler temps. The more current, the more power. It's a renewable energy source to replace nawz.

It will also clean up the emmissions for easy passing of smog tests.

Sweet!

LOL
I was convinced that it the STB's were useless on our cars until a buddy of mine GAVE me one and said hey just try it, it's free. I slapped it on and I felt a difference right away. I think it's kind of like the SFC's, the older the car is, the more effect it's going to have.
