Default New Shocks

My shocks were pretty much gone, so I went to Advance Auto Parts and snagged a set of those Monroe shocks that they had in a rebate ad.

Rides like it's on a rail now, lots of chassis squeeks are gone, awesome.

Whole deal cost less than $200 bucks.

$114.96 fer fronts
$56.96 fer rears

Default Monroe's Rock !!

I tried Konis, but they were too soft. Cost me 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile. Put on Monroes and I was back in the 11s. Monroe rules.

I got the Gasmatics on the front and the Sensa-Tracs on the back. I shoulda went for the Sensa-Tracs on the front, too.

Not sure what's better for performance, but these shocks really took care of a lot of noise, car is glued to the ground now and hooks a lot better.

Tells you how bad the stock shocks are when Monroe's are so much better, doesn't it?

BTW, the Koni's weren't too soft.... they are too firm for what you were after. The Monroe's are softer, which facilitates quicker weight transfer. Just what you don't want for handling.

my stock shocks are gone basically, what would be a good alternative at the moment, being on a budget for shocks? I don't have 700+ for Koni's, but I don't want Monroe's either, whats in the middle?

Various Bilstein's (3 different types ranging from mid-$300's to mid $500's). Tokico, KYB. There are a number of choices. Koni and Bilstein are by far the best built shocks. Tokico and KYB are generally superior to Monroe and Gabriel. BTW, we sell *all* of those shocks (and a few more too). I just rarely actually sell anything but one of the Bilstein's or Koni's because you can cover most any price range with them and they are screwed together better. From there it's a matter of the use and parts on the car matching up with the damping of the shock. And the more you need from the shock, the more money it costs.

I just installed a set of rear sensatrac's they are working way better than my stockers if that helps, cant compare them to any other shock, but sam can listen to him.
