Default Driverside Strut removal question

Ok I have been following the instructions on LS1howto.com and got to the point of taking the bolts off the Master Cylinder and do not see how I am going to get the one torxs bolt out? I can just get the 50 torx socket on there but no room for a socket wrench. Any Ideas what I am doing wrong?

You need to pull the master cylinder completely out of the way.

No, you don't have to pull the master cylinder completely. All you have to do is wiggle the reservoir over to the passenger's side a little. It won't move much, but it should give you just enough clearance to get a thin ratchet in there (with the torx socket). You could also try an allen wrench with a long bar on it so you can have a little more leverage in case your ratchet is too fat to fit in that tight space. It's a pain in the *** to get that bolt off, but it is possible.

There is no way you are going to get a torx bit with a ratchet on there unless you move the maste cylinder out of the way completely. Even if you could, why would you make it harder on yourself when all you have to do is pull back a little bit and slide it over, takes 5 seconds, and gets it the **** out of the way.

I pull the master cylinder off of the studs and move it to the passenger side giving me enough room to turn a socket wrench.

Thanks for the replies, I ended up just pulling the Master Cylinder off and it was a breeze

You can fit the torx socket on and use a wrench on the socket shank.

When you go to reassemble, put the torx bolts on the passenger side strut tower, and then the regular bolts on the drivers side...next time you won't have to remove the master cylinder (I am always afraid of bending/breaking the lines).
