Default Suspension travel. Wow!

I ordered a new bumpstop jouncer for the driver's side rear. The stock ones are black and have a broader flat edge which makes them about a half inch shorter then the one I got. I have hotchkis springs with bilstein revalves and just out of curiosity looked out the bumpstop when I took the jack from under the car and it only had around one inch in travel before the axle would hit the bumpstop.

I left the metal bracket piece on though.

I was more then likely riding on the bumpstops with the g2 super springs and stock shocks. So those of you that have springs that lower the car more then hotchkis are probably riding on the bumpstops.

Nothing wrong with hitting the bumpstops....that's what they are there for, right?

The first time you bottom out without the bumpstop in place, you will probably be reinstalling them. It's slightly jarring.

Switch your "SS" stops for the "Z-28" stops (the long tapered ones), they work much better. They are softer and more progressive. The "blunt" stops from the SS/WS6 cars are abrupt and tend to upset the chassis. Even though they are shorter, they are harder when you hit them. Almost everyone (autocrossers/racers) changes to the more progressive stops from a Z-28/V6 car.

Is part #10164173 the one you recommend? I see
this, and 10282449 in my parts manual but nothing
about which is which.

I don't have the number handy right now, but one will say "Z28/V6 cars" and the other says "SS/WS6" or something like that. Or, they list it for 245/50-16 and 235/55-16 equipped cars (that's the Z28/V6 stop). See if that helps.

This is the one I got. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm

Part # 10164173 -- It's the longer tapered one.

I think i'm gonna go ahead and order one for the pass. side. Is it better to remove the metal bracket that sits in between the body and bumpstop?

I'd change them both so that they match and yes, I'd get rid of the spacer under the bumpstop.
