Default Please explain C5 brake kit

I found a good deal on some new C5 ZO6 calipers. Can I use front and rear? I did a search, looked through FAQS.

I cant afford Brembo or Precision. I just bought some drilled and slotted rotors and Hawk pads from WS6 store, and panted my calipers. Had a problem with my right front caliper not releasing and bought a rebuilt one.

I guess my questions are:

c5 ZO6 calipers - What do you need to buy besides the bracket. What I read was something about an adapter for the front. Will the rear work?

Hello,

You can really only use the front, there are no kits available for the rear swap and I think it might even require axle modifications. Also the benefits of upgrading the rear brakes would be very minimal and most likely not noticable since the majority of the braking completed is with the front brakes.

To do the complete front swap you need to purchace the conversion brackets- http://www.umiperformance.com/2120.aspx

You also need (2) abutment brackets- http://www.umiperformance.com/12455799.aspx

There is some misc. hardware also needed and a spring and shim kit. If you need more info we have all items and I would be glad to help you get set-up. Also our website has some addtional information

Thanks
Ryan

Ryan does a great job, very concientious. He hooked me up with the C5 brake kit with every bolt, o-ring, and other hardware accounted for. Highly recommended!

Holy back from the dead Batman! So what are the differences between base C5 and C5 ZO6 calipers/rotors?

Calipers are the exact same, the Z06 calipers are Red and the C5's are Black. The rotors are different but you can use any rotor you would like with the kit. It just has to fit a 99-04 Corvette

Hope that helps!

A couple of things. I was under the impression that C5s had 6 piston calipers... guess you learn something every day! And with the UMI conversion brackets, I see that they allow the use of the stock LT1 spindles... does the swap to LS1 spindles offer any advantages besides a bigger selection of brake parts? Sorry for the dumb questions, lol.
