I need to talk to Johnny (WADDISME) about his shock settings. Full hard front is definitely too much IMHO, and WAY, WAY too hard in the rear. Viper is right, you need to be almost full soft in the back and about 2/3rds stiff in front.

Anyway, we still need to talk not just about that, but about alignment settings as well. A stock alignment is not what you want, and that's what you'll get unless you know what else you want!

Just waiting on a few more folks with ride height info (and maybe even more pics), and we'll be ready to go with normal sales of our springs. BTW, if you didn't catch the other thread, there are some pics in it, stock and then with the Strano Performance Springs: https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspension-brakes/576054-before-after-pics-strano-springs.html

Viper are the Strano Springs on the lower perch also or did you raise it back up? Just in case anyone asks

Good point, never assume.

The strano springs are on the upper perch, and the rubber isolaters are back in on the rears. I inadvertantly put one front shock together on the lower perch at first, but knew it was wrong when I could barely tighten down the upper shock nut because it was so loose.

Also, the rear may appear a 'smidge' high. I do want to point out I have no back seats or ANYTHING behind the front seats; no spare, no tire jack, no sail panels etc. If I did it would sit a little lower in the back. Myself I like the stance.

I'm hoping to get this done this weekend. I have had NO time this week to even think about getting the suspension on. Hopefully i'm not putting you in a huge bind because of it Sam. Those pictures look good!

The ride height looks great. I'm very interested in hearing some feedback on how the ride is.

Viper: Ride height in the back looks too high. Even if you put the spare, etc., back in, it would not bring it down low enough to match the front IMO.

Well it seems that unless some sort of miracle happens, I wont be able to put the spring/shock combo on the car until NEXT weekend! There should (if nothing else comes up) be another Pewter TA with these springs on it by next Sunday. I'll need to get alignment settings from Sam sometime this week. I remember him saying he would reccomend some when the springs made their way out.

Well I know Sam is waiting for my Measurements. So far the rear are on. Just going to be starting the fronts. I did snap some shots. I'll update once I get them done!!!!

Well I ran into problems, they wont be done today. Shock shaft is rusted badly where the upper shock mount goes. there is no getting it apart and back together today.
Sam im going to need some new shocks, I'll call on monday.

"Shock shaft is rusted badly where the upper shock mount goes. there is no getting it apart and back together today. "

When you do get a new shock and everything is back together, before putting it in the car I recommed you slather the upper shock nut on both driver and passenger side with lithium grease and anti-seize. I just basically filled the pocket where the nut sits on top of the shaft. Also, I applied a little underneath on the shaft itself, as well as on bottom of the upper shock mount that sits on top and slides into the engine compartment from underneath.

I feel your pain, the only reason I know to do this now is I had the same issue.

Viper Yes I know what you are talking about. I work on cars for a living and have seen everything and use never-seize on just about everything. These things have been on since 01 from the Previous owner and the car has only ever seen salt ONCE!! this yr on my way to a HPDE day. It was wet in there when I removed them, I think it comes in when it rain's. Car hasnt moved in 2wks.

I put anti-seize on rod ends too in the rear suspension, on the jam nuts. After 4 years of LG arms and APHR, they were all rusted on and together. Never again!

I wanted to chime in about the drag racing capability.

I ran a personal best today with strano springs and koni SA's.

Still running a 35mm bar up front, and a strut tower brace, large front tires, heavy cragar SS rears with 315 BFG dr's on them. 1LE LCA's.

12.1 @ 118, 1.91 60'

Proving that even being lowered you can still drag race decent with a good suspension.

Had I heated the tires up ( I just hit em enough to clean them, no smoky burnouts ) I'm sure the 60' would have been even better.

Here we go! The big announcement.....

Strano Performance Parts Lowering Spring sets are officially on sale. A second shipment is due in here next week, we've found the ride heights and fitment to be just what was intended. So they will not be available to the general public.

The all important details:

Price: $269 shipped

Lowering amount: Approximately 1.25-1.3" (result vary from car to car, but all have been consistently in that range as was intended.

Spring rate: 550 lb/in. linear rate front. 100/150 lb/in. dual-stage rear. The dual stage is needed to keep the spring from coming loose in droop. the working rate is only 150 lbs/in. and it's very obvious the softer portion is immediately non-working when the car is on the ground.

Other details: I did all the specification work on these springs. The rates, the amount of lowering are all mine. These are NOT just rebranded springs. I don't have spring equipment, so I can't make them. The company building these for me is Vogtland.
Vogtland has pretty much taken over the market in some big racing series which tells you the springs are not crap.

My springs use Vogtland's proprietary VVS alloy which is 35% lighter than the normal spring steel. A set of Strano Peformance Parts springs boxed is 28 pounds. A set of anything else, Hotchkis, Eibach, etc.... is around 40-44 pounds depending on the actual spring set.

And here are some comments gather from the testers so far:

"I wanted to chime in about the drag racing capability.
I ran a personal best today with strano springs and koni SA's.
12.1 @ 118, 1.91 60'. "

"Stance looks perfect.
Ride is firm.
Turns great.
Springs = great product."

"The ride height data:
Before with LCA brackets, UMI APHR, 275/35 18 front 295/35 18 rear, stock
springs and struts/shocks, stock control arms.
LF: 27 1/2
LR: 28 5/8
RF: 27 1/2
RR: 28 1/2

After:
LF: 26 5/16
LR: 27 1/4
RF: 26 5/16
RR: 27 1/8

Total drop so far:
F: 1 3/16
R: 1 3/8
The springs stay put at full droop too."

"Got the Konis and springs on the car, Sam you have mail! I am very happy with the ride height / handling of the car so far. Thanks for the help Sam!"

Check out this thread for how these springs performed under some serious conditions, ie - fast track, fast car, tight turns, and a no-skill driver.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspension-brakes/578372-strano-susp-upgrades-road-atlanta-wow.html

Also, I have 315s on the rear, and for 2 hrs on the track thru some serious cornering, they never rubbed my fenders. When finished, I capped my cutout, let some air out of my tires, and drove comfortably 4 hrs back home. What more can you ask for. The stance is perfect.

I am glad I was one of the early ones in!

Well considering he gets them as sets, i'm gonna say no way.

WADDISME, Viper, what allignment setting did you guys use? I'm getting these on the car this weekend and I need to have some good specs to give the guy doing the work. I'm excited about getting this stuff on, I guess i'm the last of the testers to actually get them on.
