Default Brembo blanks + Hawk Pads

ok since everyone doesnt just like answers and would rather hear comparisons i am making this post. mods if this is a repost please feel free to delete it. i am just writing out loud?

ok Saturday i installed my 4th rotor/pad combo on the car which are brembo blanks and Hawk HPS pads. my first 3 combos were as follows:

1. Stock Rotors/Pads (duh)
2. Powerslot Rotors/Same Hawk Pads
3. Cheap no-name might as well be fred flintstone stopping the car gas station Rotors/Pads (for the record this was done without my knowledge)

because i am a little sissy and i'm very lazy i had a reputable mieneke (1st gen camaro owner). he did a wonderful job (North Jersey area BTW) and actually flushed out the fluid for me as well. this combo i must say is golden. brakes feel awesome, dont fade all too much and these pads dont dust that much (500 miles since brake job). in comparison to the Powerslots i would have to choose the brembos. the brembos are way cheaper and dont chew at my pads as much as the powerslots. i cant justify spending that much extra money on wholes in my brake system. thanks for everyone who insisted on brembo blanks, im glad i listened for once

I love that combo too, and with Fikses I'm rather glad they don't dust much at all. Bought it all from Sam Strano. At the time he didn't have rears (HE DOES NOW) so I'm running autozone rears, 3 years now no warping.

I just ordered a similar setup from Sam too. Brembo blanks, Russell Steel lines for all 4 corners, some sort of german break fluid he recommended, Hawks for the rear, PBR's for the front. Should be arriving this week sometime hopefully.

My brakes are still all original, rotors, pads, fluid....all back from when the car was new......in 1998!

So I think I might feel a tad bit of a difference once the new setup is installed....lol

Great info to hear. This is the exact setup I've been looking into for a while. I have that setup on my 330 and it is a very nice upgrade for the $. Looks like Strano is going to be getting my $$ pretty soon

Are the brembo blanks coated with anything for rust prevention?

the mieneke is on Route 17 North in Ramsey and he charged me $300 for the install and flush. i bought the parts from a non-sponsor but i was just informed that Sam Strano carries these parts so he would definately be the place to order them from

You can.... Of course I don't see anyone from Tire Rack on here giving out advice, or making your particular car work properly, do you?

I have been running my brembo, cross drilled for over 3yrs, with ALOT of track passes, and high speed stops with my hawk pads (replaced once). Great set-up and they don't break the bank!

Ahh, the imfamous "BEST PRICE". Reminds me of folks who drive an extra 5 miles to save 5 cents a gallon. By the time someone does that while getting 20 mpg, the 5 cents/gallon they save is completely washed away by the extra fuel burned to get to the cheaper place.

The moral is, the lowest price isn't always the best deal. Now, parts is parts. But the advice and recommendations to get you to the right parts isn't the same where ever you go. Further, I can't tell you if I'm the cheapest or not. I'm sure I'm not, but I know I'm priced fairly, and I know I can give you way, way, WAY better information about the product. So, it's up to the individual to decide what "value" is.
