Z06 Caliper install
My friend upgraded his brakes over to Z06 calipers and drilled slotted...he brought it over and we did it in my garage. One thing I noticed was they are exactly like the stock ones, they look sick though. The install went smooth with 2 small problems. Both were related with the pads he bought, he got the ac delco. The first problem was the shims that came with the pads rubbed on the rotor...so we just used the old ones. The second problem was the front pads did not fit in the bracket. If I took the shims out they would fit but with the shims they did not. So I put the shims back on and took a close look where they werent fitting...the back part of the tac that fits into the grove was too big. So I filed it down and made sure I took my time so they would still fit snug. Anyone else run into this problem with delco pads?

What would the caliper have anything to do with the pad not fitting? The pads would not fit into the braket...that would be b4 the caliper goes on. The caliper bolted up perfect.

Yes, if you use Z06 calipers, you need to use F-body pads. Unless.....unless you get the C5 conversion kit from UMI or Trackbrackets and use the Corvette PAB, rotors, hoses, etc. The Corvette brake pads do not fit the F-body bracket properly. If you run them without those steel shims, you will usually see shortened pad life (the pads hang up on the rough cast iron surface and wear).
