I am about to order some new tires ( 275/40/17 ). What does everyone thinks of these. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/yokohama/yo_a032r.jsp
Not a daily driver but I would like them to last as long as a set of Nitto DRs ( about 10,000 miles in my case ). Opinions?
BTW, these would be for the rear only, I have Yoko A520s up front.

A520s are LOUD but handle great, slippery when new, "OK traction" when 80-40% tread, after that, USELESS, ive had 3 sets an now im looking for a diffrent brand, maybe 555extrems up front and DRs in the rear

I like the A520s, they have been great so far in all types of weather. I've run them in the front and rear and they grip good for a 180TW tire. I just would like a little more tracton in the rear.

I've got 315s in back and 275s in the front. They seem to hold up at least as good as BFG D.R.s, most likely around 10K depending on your driving habits. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> They grip good and handle the wet better than the BFG D.R.s, very happy with them. ONE CAUTION THOUGH, THEY ARE LOUD! They are louder than the BFG Mud Terrains on my Blazer! I can live with it. While I am happy with them, I think I'm going to try the new Kummo Estras or the new Nitto555RRs next. Good reports on both.

I had AO32R in the rear. I had good street traction and they were quiet. I would definitley buy another set. I like the looks of the tread pattern. They would have lasted atleast 10,000 miles, even with 25-30 passes at the track, but they came off for a taller tire. I had the 275/40/17

The AO32R will last about 3,000 miles if they're driven on the street daily. They are not like Nitto DR at all...... They will be very noisy also, and do not even think about driving in the rain!

That's the first post I've ever seen that said they were not loud. I've had them on my car for about 6 months now. They are loud and would bug alot of people, it does not bug me. They stick good, not as good as Kummo's I've heard but I will find out for sure soon. They are pretty much on par with the BFG D.R.s I had but feel better in the twisties. As far as wet performance- they ain't Aqua-Treads but they are better than Drag Radials for sure when both are new. When they get worn they are just as good as any other worn out tire in the wet- crappy. They were designed for wet weather racing as such they have the rather large grooves and that's what makes them loud. Basically they don't stick as well as some other DOT RR tires, they do a little better in the wet and last a smidge longer than some. As I said,I'm happy with them but I'm going to try something different next time.

I have 4 on the Camaro that are just about gone. They lasted more than 3K street miles, plus several autocross events, and a full weekend of Porsche killing on a road course. I also have been known to do donuts on them. It is safe to say that they will last most people more than 3K miles.
From a drag style launch they grip about 90% as well as Nitto DR's. The corner very well and look bada$$. The only 2 downsides to them is the noise, and they like to follow grooves in the highway (this may be somewhat due to my alignment, and they aren't as bad as Victoracers). Speaking of the Kuhmo Victoracer, the Yok's grip alsmot as well as the Kuhmo at autox, and are better in the rain. The Kuhmo is a slightly better tire on the road course. Like all "R" compound tires, they start to lose grip aster too many heat cycles.
I have been very happy with these tires, and would suggest them.

I had A032's on my NSX....they are very noisy and they don't last long at all.....3000 miles is a good estimate if you are driving on them. You would get a few passes on them on the road course though.
They are not a DRAG RADIAL by any means. They were built for road coarses. So I feel they are incomparable to nitto DRs or BFG DRs. Look at the wear rating as an indication the A520 has a rating of 180 while the A032 is at a mere 60. These tires are rated to last about 5000 miles from Yokohama! You be the judge.
BFG makes a tire comparable to the A032. It is what I switched to before I sold the car. The BFG R1 is a bad *** tire. It has built in camber for road racing. These tires not only improve traction, but they improve handling noticably due to their construction (i.e. built in camber). Not many tires do this and it is the tire of choice amoung NSXers.
BTW,
Have you ever seen an A032 in person? I ask because if you set it next to a Nitto DR you will see there is no way it would last as long. The tread depth is significantly less, possibly 1/3 that of the nitto!

Are they loud?
If you say so, I can not hear a thing over my motor and exhaust. I was never able to hear them in a straight line or in a corner. Overall I was pretty happy, but if their is something better I would try it.

Tread depth on a new A032R is the same 8/32" as Nitto DR's, loads more tread than a BFG DR. Also, the BFG R1 has been out of production for a long time.

Loud at 45mph. Think Monster Mudders.
Mine lasted 6000 until wear bars. I'd give them a B+ for racing, but a C- for street use.
